Stable View is a lovely stone holiday cottage on a working farm in the Peak District National Park. It's just outside Tideswell village, so everything you need for a self-catering holiday is close to hand, and you can access fantastic footpaths and cycling routes virtually from the door. Up until recently, Stable View was a former farm building. Through the owner's hard work, it's now a stylish and comfortable holiday home sleeping up to four people in two bedrooms. The layout is ideal for families, but it's also welcoming for couples who appreciate additional space. Bookings are available all year round, so there's no reason for you to wait to book your holiday here.
The cottage is on the family-run Wheston House Farm, where the owners raise pigs, sheep, beef and dairy cows. The views from the cottage could not be more authentically "Peak District" unless they included Chatsworth House (they don't, but it's only half an hour away). Some windows overlook the main farmyard, and others looking out over rolling green fields. Tideswell is a popular choice with visitors for a self-catering holiday in the Peak District not only because the village is so appealing - it has a 14th Century Church, a good choice of independent places to eat, drink and shop, and its full calendar of events that includes an annual food festival and well dressing, but also because of the wealth of footpaths, mountain bike trails and bridleways that go through and around the village.
In addition to Chatsworth House, which is a must-see for the spectacular decor, world-class collections, and breathtaking gardens, Wheston House Farm is close to Buxton's elegant buildings and boutiques, Bakewell's busy Monday market, and the underground beauty of the Blue John's Cavern in Castleton and Poole's Cavern near Buxton Country Park. Manchester and Alton Towers are under an hour's drive from the cottage, so there are no worries that you will run out of options for fun days out.
Stable View is one of two superb holiday cottages at Wheston House Farm. Both are completely private and self-contained but can be booked together, depending on availability, to accommodate extended families and or friends.
