About Barn Cottage

Barn Cottage is a pretty stone holiday cottage located in the Peak District village of Birchover. Perfect for couples or individuals, the one-bedroom cottage is within walking distance of two friendly pubs, The Druid Inn, and The Red Lion, both serving delicious meals, perfect for dinner and drinks without the need for driving. Birchover is popular with keen walkers and climbers due to its picturesque walks and hikes. Barn Cottage is available for bookings all year round, and since the Peak District is always spectacular, there's no better time than now to book your holiday.

The hills and mountains around Birchover are well known with outdoor enthusiasts. A path running behind The Druid Inn leads to the curious Rowter Rocks cave system, a beautiful natural cave system which has been extended with human-made tunnels and caverns, with carvings added by Reverend Thomas Eyre in the 17th and 18th centuries. From Barn Cottage, walk East to reach Stanton Moor with its stone circles and tors, or West to discover Cratcliffe Tor and the medieval hermit's cave. The Peak District is also a favourite spot for mountain bikers and road cyclists due to its extensive array of cycle routes and trails.

Days out in the Peak District can include visiting the magnificent Chatsworth House and its extensive grounds, around seven miles from the cottage. Haddon Hall is also nearby, as are the Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath. Walk or cycle along the Monsal Trail or spend a relaxing day exploring the beautiful Dovedale Valley. The bustling market town of Bakewell, with its busy Monday market and delicious puddings, is just over five miles away, while Buxton's elegant boutiques are 17 miles or a half an hour's drive. Alton Towers is 40 minutes from Barn Cottage.

Barn Cottage is a wonderful home-away-from-home in all seasons. No matter what your reason for visiting, you'll find a warm welcome here.
