The Carriage House is architectural elegance. Peacefully located in the beautiful grounds of the Ashford Hall Estate in Ashford in the Water, the Derbyshire self-catering holiday house is luxuriously decorated to sleep six people in three bedrooms with wonderful views and easy access to some of the best sights and attractions in the entire Peak District National Park. As quiet and remote as the cottage is, it's barely a two-minute walk into the village, where there is a well-stocked shop, tea rooms, the friendly Bull's Head pub, and a popular restaurant. It's perfect for a walking holiday or cycling holiday with friends, yet relaxed enough that families also feel welcome and comfortable.
The Peak District has some of the most sublime views in England. One of the best is across the lake and fountain to Chatsworth House. With 300 rooms full of world-class collections of art and furniture, parklands shaped by the renowned Georgian landscape designer Capability Brown, a farmyard and playground, cafe, restaurant and excellent shop, the Chatsworth Estate offers a full day of beauty and fun barely five miles from your holiday home. If you love a stately home, then you'll appreciate National Trust Hardwick Hall and Kedleston Hall. Buxton's grand buildings elevate even the simple task of grocery shopping into something to enjoy. While Bakewell's buildings are more rustic than refined, you should not miss the busy Monday market with over 100 vendors and a wide variety of produce, gifts and other items.
Walking is a highly pleasurable way to enjoy the scenery of the Peak District. Local footpaths include going over the medieval sheep wash bridge to Monsal Head or around Little Longstone and the Monsal Weir. You can also cycle along the Monsal Trail, following it to Bakewell, Buxton, and tunnels to the Monsal Head Viaduct. The house has secure storage for guests who bring a bike. Bike hire is also available locally. Other Peak District attractions include the Tissington Trail, Alton Towers, Eyam Museum and the Riley Graves, Poole's Cavern and Buxton Country Park, the Heights of Abraham, Crich Tramway Village, and Gulliver's Kingdom.
The Carriage House welcomes visitors all year round.
