Wye Knot cottage sleeps four guests in two bedrooms and is a fully equipped self-catering bungalow that is ideally placed in a quiet area close to Bakewell town centre. Comfortable and centrally heated, the cottage is ideal for a holiday at any time of the year and offers accommodation that is both child and pet friendly.
Located in the heart of the Peak District National Park, Bakewell is a small historic market town that sits on the River Wye. It offers excellent facilities including independent shops, tea rooms, art galleries, pubs, restaurants, an indoor swimming pool and a recreation area with facilities for the children. Famed for its wonderful Bakewell Pudding (or some would argue tart!), Bakewell is located in the Derbyshire White Peaks and is rich in tradition and heritage.
There are plenty of things to do in and around Bakewell. Walking is one of a number of popular outdoor pursuits, with footpaths starting from the front door leading you off across the fields to Haddon Hall (one mile), Lathkill Dale and Ashford in the Water, along with Chatsworth House (three miles) and its beautiful parkland. The Monsal cycling/walking trail also starts in Bakewell and passes through six tunnels and over a viaduct through magnificent scenery for eight and a half miles (13.7km) towards the nearby spa town of Buxton. Other popular pursuits include cycling, riding and climbing.
The town hosts a number of events throughout the year providing entertainment including The Annual Bakewell Show in early August, Well Dressings, Carnival Week and an Arts Festival. There is also a weekly market on a Monday when the town is bustling and a monthly farmers market which is one of the largest in the country.
Carsington Water and the market town of Ashbourne are just two of the many attractions within easy reach, along with Matlock Bath, the spa town of Buxton, Alton Towers, Gulliver's Kingdom and Speedwell Cavern at Castleton with its incredible cave system to name just a few.
