Grange Barn is in one of the most idyllic places you can imagine. The period holiday cottage is a recently refurbished stone barn conversion with an open plan living area and a luxuriously spacious bedroom. It's on the first floor with a private entrance and is beautifully furnished to suit couples who appreciate their creature comforts. Grange Barn is on the owner's quiet estate in the Peak District village of Ashford in the Water. There are fantastic walks from the door, including a short route to the friendly Bull's Head pub and well-stocked village shop.
Ashford in the Water is less than two miles from the bustling market town of Bakewell, but that isn't why it's so good for your next self-catering holiday in the Peak District. Although tiny, Ashford in the Water is well-known amongst walkers for its 17th Century Sheepwash Bridge, one of the most photographed bridges in Derbyshire. You can walk or cycle beside the River Wye to Bakewell, making the most of its busy Monday market, excellent shops and bakeries that sell the famous Bakewell puddings and tarts. Tideswell and Buxton are also within easy reach.
The Monsal Trail is nearby, with bicycle hire available in Bakewell for those who need it. Other recommended walking routes include the challenging 12-mile walk from Youlgrave to Lathkill Dale, the path to the peak of Mam Tor (conveniently close to a car park) and the popular walk between Milldale and Dovedale. Cyclists can have fun on the Tissington and Highpeak Trails, the eight-mile off-road loop around Carsington Water, and the former railway line through the Derwent Valley. Fishing, golf and horse riding are also widely accessible.
Chatsworth House is only five miles away across the River Derwent via a scenic drive, bike ride, or walk. Other local attractions include Blue John Caves, Alton Towers, Gulliver's Kingdom, the Heights of Abraham, the Peak Wildlife Park, Carsington Water Reservoir, and the Thornbridge Brewery.
The Peak District is always beautiful. It doesn't matter what time of year you visit, you can expect sensational views, fantastic attractions to suit everyone and a warm welcome at Grange Barn.

Grange Barn is a first-floor apartment in a converted barn on the owner's property. It is accessed via an amazing stone staircase with a private door at ground floor level.
Outside: Settle back in the sunshine on the patio with its table and chairs that are ideal for alfresco meals in warm weather. The cottage has off-street parking for one car.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are all included. Short breaks are possible, depending on availability. Pets and smoking are not permitted.
