About Unsliven Bridge Farm

Unsliven Bridge Farm is an attractive period property on the edge of the Peak District National Park and within walking distance of the Underbank Reservoir, the village shop and Y Olde Mustard Pot pub (with Langsett Wagon and Horses also close by). It is on the outskirts of Stocksbridge and started life as a farmhouse in the 1600s before being converted into a spacious holiday home that sleeps up to 15 people in seven beautiful bedrooms. Guests can enjoy gorgeous rural views, luxurious touches like underfloor heating and an outdoor hot tub and extensive grounds which are a haven for wildlife with an enclosed garden with outdoor furniture and BBQ as well as a meadow with picnic tables where you can sit beside the river. It's a fantastic place for fun and relaxing holidays with your extended family and friends.

Stockbridge is perfect for a holiday at any time of the year. Only two miles from the Peak District National Park and 10 miles north of Sheffield, it has a friendly community that is well-supported by amenities that include a shopping centre, and there's a thriving food market every Sunday on Saunders Street. Stockbridge is part of the Pennines, and the surrounding area is a favourite with walkers and cyclists not only for the beautiful views but for the routes that range from gentle to challenging. A favourite local footpath is the Stockbridge Circuit which passes the Wharncliffe Crags, Wind Hill and Whitewell Moor, and which takes in part of the Trans Pennine Trail. A shorter, three-mile, loop goes from the Stockbridge Leisure Centre to a trig point where guests can enjoy panoramic views. Other local footpaths lead to the Isle of Skye Quarry and Tin Mill Ponds, while the Stocksbridge Heritage Trail introduces visitors to the area's importance in the steel industry. There is a footpath for everyone regardless of their ability or the amount of time they have to spend outdoors.

Four miles away, the historic town of Penistone is noted in the Domesday Book and has an excellent variety of places to eat, drink and shop. The Trans Pennine Trail passes through the town, and it's a great place to stop and refuel if you are walking and cycling along its route. A 10-minute drive from Unsliven Bridge Farm, the picturesque village of Holmfirth served as the setting for many episodes of "Last of the Summer Wine" and still attracts fans who visit Sid's Cafe and take the Summer Wine Magic Tour. Another favourite nearby attraction is the award-winning Cannon Hall Farm where goats, donkeys, cows, and shire horses are just a few of the many animals that win over visitors with their cuteness.

Unsliven Bridge Farm is next to a converted barn which can sleep up to seven people in three bedrooms. The two properties can be booked together to increase potential accommodation to up to 22 people. Please see the owner's website for details.

Accommodation Comprises:

Unsliven Bridge Farm looks traditional on the outside, but the interiors have been designed with contemporary living in mind, featuring an open plan layout downstairs so that guests can get together and socialise, and quiet bedrooms in two wings to offer peace and privacy. Accommodation is over two levels.

Downstairs:

  • Welcoming entrance hall with room to hang coats and store boats.
  • Gorgeous living room with the original stone fireplace, underfloor heating under the solid wood floor, comfortable seating and a television.
  • Spacious kitchen/diner with professional-standard appliances and plenty of space to store food and prepare meals. A long dining table runs down the centre of the room with 16 chairs so everyone can sit and eat together. As with the living room, the solid oak beams are a stylish feature. The room has lots of natural light thanks to glazed French doors that open onto the garden.
  • Utility room with two washing machines, a tumble dryer, two big freezers and a dog-friendly space where your pooches can have a bath and sleep in comfort.
  • Games room with table tennis, a small snooker table, and air hockey, as well as relaxed seating. There is a TV for guests who want to bring their own games console to use during their stay.
  • Designer family bathroom with a shower over the bath, heated towel rail, WC and handbasin.

Upstairs:

  • Bedrooms are in one of two wings and reached by climbing either the main oak staircase from the entrance hall or the spiral staircase next to the kitchen. Each bedroom is beautifully decorated with a subtle colour to make it unique from the rest.
  • Family/triple room with a kingsized bed and a single bed, a built-in wardrobe with mirrored doors, and an ensuite with a shower, WC and handbasin.
  • Two double rooms with a kingsized (5ft-wide) bed that can be separated into two single beds if required. Please let the owner know your preferred layout when booking. Each room has a stylish ensuite with a shower, WC and handbasin.
  • The fourth bedroom in this wing is a lovely double room with bedside tables and reading lights, and a window overlooking the garden.
  • Climb the spiral staircase to reach three further king/twin bedrooms, each boasting a contemporary ensuite with a shower, WC and handbasin.

Outside: Relax in the private south-facing gardens, bird watching over breakfast or star gazing as you soak in the hot tub. There is a large level area of lawn, a paved terrace with a big barbecue and plenty of seating. The nearby meadow has picnic tables where you can relax or explore either side of the river. There is ample off-street parking.

Additional Information: All utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath sheets are provided. Short breaks may be possible depending on availability. Well behaved pets are welcome with prior agreement from the owner. No hen or stag parties.
