Cloud Cottage is a dreamy holiday home where couples and families can feel relaxed and comfortable while enjoying the Peak District's many delights. The 18th Century stone cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms and has lots of original character that makes it so welcoming. It is in Whaley Bridge, next to the owner's antique shop and within strolling distance of other shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.
Whaley Bridge is a lively town to the east of the Peak District National Park, close to the Todbrook Reservoir and the beautiful Goyt Valley. It is at the start of the Peak Forest Canal, and visitors rave about how scenic the route is for walking, cycling and boating. Road cyclists and mountain bikers love this area for its challenging climbs and exciting downhills. Follow trails over Long Hill to Buxton, push your lungs to the limit up Eccles Pike, or earn boasting rights by climbing the 21.4% gradient of Cowlow Lane. Kinder Scout is popular with walkers and mountain bikers, as are the trails around Erwood and the Fernilee reservoirs. After you've worked up a stonking appetite going uphill and down dale, stop for a pub meal at the Cock, or a pint of local ale at the Drum and Monkey. Whaley also has two fish and chip shops, an excellent wine shop and bar, and a busy bakery.
The Peak District is spectacular in all seasons. The towns, villages and open landscape are all protected as part of England's oldest national park, and it's a joy to visit whether you are discovering it for the first time or are a frequent visitor. Cloud Cottage is only eight miles from the elegant spa town of Buxton, ten miles from Castleton, and half an hour from Bakewell, Chatsworth House and Lyme Park. There are golf courses and horse riding stables, climbing, caving, stately homes and lovely gardens, all within a small radius. If that's not enough, Manchester is under an hour's drive with all of the shops, sights and restaurants of a major city.
Cloud Cottage is available for bookings all year round.
