About Highfields Barn

Highfields Barn is nestled within the parish of Onecote in the Staffordshire Moorlands on the Southern edge of the Peak District National Park. Ideally located to explore the Limestones Dales of the White Peak in the South and the rugged Dark Peak to the North. The barn is part of Highfields Farm, which comprises of 40 acres, predominantly pasture with traditional hay meadows, where we graze our flock of the lovable Herdwick sheep. Some of which are extremely friendly, and if you wish, are able to meet. An experience you’ll treasure and never forget. Highfields Barn is located in a beautiful, peaceful, quiet and scenic area of the Peak District surrounded by pastures, meadows and moorland. A wonderful place to relax. The barn is approached via a stoned farm track, just under a mile long (please note, not suitable for low-slung vehicles). Highfields Barn is a beautifully renovated barn sleeping up to eight people in four bedrooms. Couples and solo travellers have the option of only booking the ground floor bedroom, keeping the upstairs closed off and enjoying a reduced rate.

Please note the prices advertised are for 4 guests. For 2,6 or 8 guest prices, please contact the owner, thank you.

At 1,400 feet, the views are impressive, and there are some fantastic footpaths and mountain bike trails from which to enjoy them. Favourite walking routes include Mam Tor, the Roaches, from Cheadle to Dilhorne, Kingsley to Consall, and Leek via the Caldon Canal and Ladderedge Country Park. Mountain bikers also have a vast choice of single track and bridleways to help them explore. Don't miss a visit to scenic Rudyard Lake for walking, cycling, fishing, canoeing and sailing. Carsington Water and Tittesworth Reservoir are also blissful spots for walking, watersports and birdwatching.

There is a wonderful selection of things to do and see while you're staying at Highfields Barn. Chatsworth House is around 20 miles from the barn, close to the historic market town of Bakewell with its delicious puddings and busy Monday market. Swap the grand surroundings of Chatsworth for the excitement of Alton Towers, 12 miles from Highfields Barn, or spend a rainy day underground exploring Blue John's Cavern, Speedwell Cavern, and Peak Cavern. There are stately homes, gorgeous gardens and well-curated local museums, and vibrant towns with a great variety of places to eat, drink and shop.

You'll never be far from a glorious view when you stay at Highfields Barn. Whether your visit is for adventure, relaxation, or a bit of both, the location of the barn is perfect in every season.

  • Cosy living room with original beams and lots of character. Light the log burner and put your feet up in front of the TV, or grab a board game for screen-free family fun. There is also a good amount of information about the local area to help you make the most of your stay.

  • Ground floor bedroom with a  Super kingsize bed, bedside tables with reading lights, and storage and hanging facilities. A travel cot is available.
