About James Cottage

James Cottage is a pretty limestone holiday cottage in an idyllic location in the picturesque village of Chelmorton, within walking distance of the Church Inn Pub where thirsty visitors have been greeted with a perfectly pulled pint since 1742. The former dairy has recently been converted into a beautiful two-bedroom property with a flexible layout that suits families and friends as well as couples. If you want a comfortable cottage with loads of character and luxurious touches to base yourself while exploring the Peak District National Park or Derbyshire Dales, then this could be the perfect cottage for you.

Chelmorton's elevated position means it enjoys some of the most spectacular views in the Peak District. The small village is a favourite with walkers for its proximity to the Midshires Way footpath which winds through the national park, leading to breathtaking views. The cottage has facilities for washing and securely storing bikes so cyclists and mountain bikers can bring or hire bikes to utilise the local excellent network of mountain bike trails and routes that include the Tissington & Monsal Trails.

As gorgeous as the landscape is, not everyone wants to spend all of their time outside. That's never an issue in the Peak District as there is such a fantastic array of attractions with something to suit everyone. The Georgian spa town of Buxton is only five miles away, with an excellent choice of places to eat, drink and shop as well as a superb spa hotel where visitors can enjoy the health properties of the natural spring water which make the town a favourite with the Romans as well as the Georgians and Victorians. Poole's Cavern and Buxton Country Park are an easy 10-minute drive from the cottage, and there are also two golf courses within six miles.

The Monday market at Bakewell is the biggest in the Peak District with over 100 regular stallholders selling an array of local produce as well as a variety of homewares, clothing, crafts and curios. Bakewell is famous for its tarts and puddings and has a variety of independent shops to browse. It's the closest town to Chatsworth House, whose house and grounds deserve a full day's visit to appreciate their beauty.

James Cottage is available for short and long breaks all year round. Whether you want to just getaway for a few nights of relaxation or a longer break to explore the many attractions of the Peak District, this gorgeous cottage is sure to provide a warm welcome at any time of the year.
