About Baileycroft Mews

Baileycroft Mews is in the gorgeous Derbyshire Dales with direct access to footpaths that include the High Peak Trail. It's on the edge of Wirksworth, in a peaceful location within walking distance of shops, cafes and The Lime Kiln pub with no passing traffic. The two-bedroom cottage sleeps three to four people and is pet-friendly with an enclosed garden. The layout works well for couples, small families or friends.

Wirksworth is two miles from the southern border of the Peak District National Park with lots of amenities that make it ideal as a base from which to explore this region. In addition to the Lime Kiln, a proper drinking pub serving locally brewed ciders and ales, there are three further pubs within a few minutes walk - The Quarryman, Hope and Anchor, and Royal Oak, as well as The Rising Sun in under a mile away in Middleton. You'll have no trouble slaking any thirst you get from walking around Wirksworth! Wirksworth has a weekly market every Tuesday morning next to the Memorial Hall, an award-winning Heritage Centre, and annual events that include the unique Peak District tradition of Well Dressing and a spring carnival over the late May bank holiday weekend.

One of the biggest reasons people visit the Derbyshire Dales and the Peak District is for the excellent walks. Baileycroft Mews is perfectly located for favourite routes like the High Peak Trail, the loop around Carsington Water, to Ashbourne and onto the Tissington Trail, to the stepping stones at Darley Dale, and Black Rocks and the Cromford Moor. Mountain biking and road cycling are also popular. Bike hire is available locally if you aren't able to bring your bike on holiday with you.

Day trips can include visiting the magnificent Chatsworth House and the 105-acre grounds that include parkland, a splendid Victorian rock garden, and an impressive fountain which, with a water height of 28 metres, was the highest fountain in England for 150 years. Browse wares from over 100 vendors at Bakewell's Monday market, meander around Matlock, or promenade along Buxton's elegant avenues. Local attractions include the Heights of Abraham, Crich Tramway Village, the Plague Village of Eyam, White Peak Distillery, National Stone Centre, and Carsington Water.

The comfortable, homely atmosphere of Baileycroft Mews will welcome your return after a full day of fun and adventure, making your time in the Peak District one of your most memorable holidays.
