Guests who have stayed at Nine Potterhill love its homely feel and the welcoming touches like a hamper with essentials and an initial supply of logs for the wood burner.
Pickering is a vibrant community that is a favourite with holidaymakers all year round for its excellent amenities and location on the southern border of the North York Moors National Park. Bustling rather than busy, it's the perfect place to base yourself as there is so much within easy reach. Browse the Monday market, admire the ancient castle, and book a ride on the heritage North York Moors Railway, all of which are within a short stroll of the cottage. Yorkshire is famous for the quality of its footpaths, cycling routes and mountain bike trails. You'll find a vast choice accessible either from Pickering or within a short drive, as you're so close to North Riding Forest Park and the Howardian Hills.
You can plan day trips for all ages and interests from Nine Potterhill. Castle Howard, Go Ape, the Beck Isle Museum, and Flamingoland are all nearby, as are the North Yorkshire Waterpark, National Trust Nunnington Hall, and the Ryedale Folk Museum. Scarborough's Blue Flag beach is about a 40-minute drive, and you're also under an hour from Robin Hood's Bay, Filey, and Whitby. The city of York, with its Roman walls, medieval lanes, and majestic Minster, is 26 miles from Pickering. You can drive to the city's outskirts using the Park and Ride system or take the train from Malton.
The owners of Nine Potterhill accept bookings all year round. Short breaks are possible, but you'll want to extend your stay for as long as possible, as there is so much to see and do.
