Harvester Cottage sleeps five people in three bedrooms and is ideal for families, including extended families, or friends. It is one of seven 4-Star self-catering cottages at Low Costa Mill near Pickering, each of which started as a rustic building but has been skilfully transformed into a comfortable holiday property. Amenities include an indoor swimming pool, 10 acres of grounds with woodland trails, duck ponds, a beck and an adventure playground. When booked together, the cottages sleep up to 33 people and are ideal for getting all of your favourite people together for a reunion or to celebrate a special occasion.
Pickering is only 1.5 miles from Low Costa Mill, meaning you can walk or cycle there if you'd rather not take the car everywhere. It's a friendly town with a lively Monday market, a great choice of independent shops, cafes and pubs, and attractions that include Pickering Castle, Beck Isle Museum, North York Moors Railway, and rare medieval paintings at St Peter & St Paul's Church. Get your bearings on the self-guided Walk around Pickering, which shows off the town's historical buildings and important sites. It starts at the library and maps are available from the information centre at The Ropery.
Outside of Pickering, the beautiful North York Moors beckon with miles of amazing scenery unlike anywhere else in the UK. Walking, cycling, horse riding - it's all readily accessible all year round. Blow the cobwebs away with a walk along the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage Coast footpath with spectacular North Sea views. Dalby Forest is just six miles from the cottage. It's a top choice for a day out with footpaths, mountain bike trails, and a Go Ape High Ropes course. Yorkshire is heaven for cyclists of all disciplines. Low Costa Mill is cycle-friendly, providing a place to wash, repair and store for bikes.
You don't have to go anywhere to have a perfect day. Let the kids run free, climbing and playing the way that children should. Run or walk along woodland trails, go swimming, sit quietly by the beck and let the sound of running water soothe your spirit, or play a competitive family game of football. If you choose to go out for the day, you can enjoy attractions like Flamingo Land, the Sealife Centre in Scarborough, Whitby Abbey, Rievalux Abbey and Castle Howard.
