Ryedale Cottage is a charming period stone cottage ideal for couples or families who want the peace of a rural location without the isolation from sights and amenities. One of four lovely properties at Sproxton Hall Cottages (click through to the owner's website for more details), Ryedale can sleep four people in two bedrooms, with accommodation all on one level for ease of access. The cottage can be booked on its own, or together with one or more of the other properties to accommodate extended families or groups of friends.
Sproxton Hall Cottages sit within the Howardian Hills AONB on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park. For guests who enjoy being outdoors, there is no better location because there is a wealth of activities nearby. A variety of footpaths, bridleways and dedicated mountain bike and road cycling routes create a beautiful lace through the countryside and across the moors, taking in fantastic sights and offering a path for every ability. Horseriding and golfing are two more popular ways to enjoy the scenery, which is stunning at any time of the year.
The friendly market town of Helmsley is only two miles from Ryedale Cottage. Unlike some High Streets, which are full of the same generic brands, the majority of businesses here are owned and run by locals who offer an incredible array of goods and services. Stock up on freshly baked bread and locally reared meat, browse boutiques and gift shops and settle down at a cafe for a proper pot of tea and a generous wedge of cake. Helmsley's attractions include a castle, an open-air lido, and a beautiful walled garden. Nearby are the National Centre for Birds of Prey, Rievaulx Abbey and Duncombe Park. Slightly further afield but still close enough for a fun day out, are Pickering, Castle Howard, and the ancient city of York, as well as the seaside resort towns of Whitby and Scarborough.
The owners of Ryedale Cottage have created a relaxing space that is ideal for a holiday at any time of year thanks to its welcoming accommodation and peaceful location. The scale and beauty of the landscape and the warmth of the Yorkshire hospitality will make this your new favourite place to visit.
