About Hatter's Cottage

Hatter's Cottage sleeps up to four guests in two bedrooms and is a charming 18th Century stone holiday cottage that is detached and positioned away from it all in the heart of the southern Lake District. Situated on a small farm between the beautiful popular lakes of Windermere and Coniston, the cottage is one hundred and fifty metres from public roads. It offers a peaceful retreat for couples who want to explore this beautiful area with its many attractions and is equally suitable for families with teenagers who want an adventurous holiday. It is close to a bus route, so is convenient for those who wish to leave the car behind.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead is just one mile from Hatter's Cottage and offers several pubs serving food, a small supermarket and a post office.

This beautiful tranquil location allows provides miles of walking and cycling with direct access from the cottage door out onto footpaths, forest tracks and quiet lanes. Boating, mountain walks, rock climbing and pony trekking are all available nearby and the central location makes the cottage an excellent base for exploring the Lake District.

Hatters Cottage sits beside a little stream with lovely gardens, orchard, fields and woodland surrounding it. The cottage affords lovely mountain views and is the only holiday home on this small farm which is personally run by the owners.

The area offers many attractions to suit all ages which include: Tarn Hows - a popular beauty spot with one of the best views in Lakeland just a short walk from the cottage; Hill Top where you can discover the tales of Beatrix Potter; many National Trust places; Steam Yacht Gondola on Coniston Water - the oldest steam yacht and a relaxing way to explore the waters; Historic Sizergh Castle and Gardens; Grizedale Forest and the popular centres of Windermere and Bowness.
