Goosepen Cottage sleeps up to four guests in two bedrooms and is a cosy spacious welcoming retreat that is ideal for friends or families at any time of the year. The cottage is dog friendly and has an enclosed garden, as well as its own dedicated WiFi. With spectacular scenery all around and a wood burning stove inside, this delightful cottage is a joy to visit whether it be in the warmer summer months or for a winter break.
Part of a range of farm buildings that date as far back as the 18th century, Goosepen Cottage sits in an enviable scenic position nestling in Wasdale within the Lake District National Park. Whether you want to simply relax and immerse yourself in the peace and tranquility of the beautiful western fells, or head for the more touristy areas of the Lakes, the cottage is ideally placed for enjoying everything that the Lake District has to offer.
Sitting on what was once a working farm, the cottage offers ‘upside down’ accommodation with superb views up the Wasdale valley. The surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for walkers with a popular 'easy' walk directly from the front door providing access out onto the open fell, taking you to Wastwater Screes and beyond to the majestic Scafell mountain range (home to the country's highest peak, Scafell Pike!).
For those looking for something a little less challenging, there are a host of low level walks through rolling countryside, woods and alongside lakes and rivers with country pubs en-route for refreshment - the closest being The Bridge Inn which is the local to the cottage and less than four hundred yards away, offering a warm welcome to children and your four legged friends.
Plenty of outdoor pursuits are available locally including opportunities for those who enjoy fishing, pony trekking, golf, sailing, mountain biking and kayaking. Attractions are also plentiful including Hardknot Fort (English Heritage) which dates back to Roman times, sitting in a spectacular position; Muncaster Castle with its historic house, gardens and Hawk and Owl Centre providing a great day out for the whole family and the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway - one of the most scenic of its kind and a lovely way to see the sights of the Eskdale Valley.
The busier bustling Lakeland tourist hubs of Windermere, Keswick and Ambleside are also within easy driving distance, but far enough away for the western lakes to ensure the area retains its uspoilt much loved charm.
