About High House

High House glows golden in the way that only Cotswold stone can. The holiday home sleeps six people in three bedrooms, one on the ground floor with an ensuite bathroom. It has lots of space for relaxed socialising and suits families, extended families and friends. Whether you arrive in the height of summer when the mature trees shade the garden terrace or on a drizzly winters day when the warmth of the log burner and range cooker lure you indoors, it's a blissful self-catering cottage from which to enjoy the plentiful charms of Chipping Campden and the glorious Cotswolds AONB.

Don't blame us if you find yourself looking in estate agent windows and dreaming of a life in the Cotswolds when staying in Chipping Campden. It is gorgeous with all of the amenities you'd expect in a thriving Cotswold town, including bistros, bars and an excellent delicatessen to address your catering needs. Stroll around town, taking note of the impressive St James Church, whose style reflects the wealth the wool trade brought to the community. Follow a stretch of the 104-mile Cotswold Way footpath, or meander through the beautiful gardens of National Trust Hidcote and Kiftsgate. Local businesses offer bike hire and guided cycling and walking tours for those who want the expertise of someone who knows the area well.

Treat the children to a day at Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park, just 15 minutes from High House, with rare breed animals and many activities. The Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens are also within easy reach, as are Stratford-Upon-Avon and Blenheim Palace. You can go sightseeing in Oxford, blow the budget at Bicester, or visit the Cotswold Motoring Museum in Bourton-on-the-Water.

The Cotswolds has something to offer everyone in any season. It has an authentic old-world charm yet is wonderfully convenient by road or public transport. High House has the cachet of having been designed by Robert Ashbee, who started the Arts and Crafts community in Chipping Campden. Guests love how the owners have retained original features and character while providing a holiday home for the modern era.

Location (The Cotswolds)

Accommodation Comprises:

High House dates from a time when the quality of craftsmanship was as important as beauty and function. You can expect lots of natural wood and stone, Farrow and Ball paint, and beautiful furnishings from top to bottom.

Downstairs:

  • L-shaped living/dining room with oak flooring, a wall of Cotswold Stone, and a fireplace with a gas-fired flame effect stove. There is seating for six where you can all relax and watch something good on the 40-inch Smart TV. The oak dining table has bench and chair seating.
  • An oak-framed extension at the rear houses a spacious conservatory overlooking the garden. It works well as a children's or second sitting room with casual seating, a Smart TV with Freeview channels, and a choice of board games.
  • Traditional cooks will appreciate the Rangemaster range at the heart of the kitchen, complemented by modern appliances that include a microwave and a dishwasher. It's a very well-appointed room featuring all of the utensils and equipment necessary for family self-catering.
  • Stairs lead from the conservatory to the lower ground floor bedroom suite. It has a double bed, seating area, and built-in storage. The ensuite features a shower, WC, vanity with a demister and sensor lighting, a heated towel rail, and a handbasin.

Upstairs:

  • Spacious master bedroom with a king-sized bed, lots of storage and a seating area. There is a travel cot in the cupboard, though guests will need to provide cot bedding if it is required.
  • Twin bedroom with two full-sized single beds, bedside tables with lamps, and a reading chair.
  • A freestanding rolltop bathtub with an overhead and a handheld shower makes the family bathroom suitable for soaking or showering. It has a heated towel rail, a mirror with LED lighting, WC and a handbasin.

Outside: Guests love spending time in the sheltered walled garden, especially in summer when they can eat on the terrace with views of the countryside and hills. The house has off-street parking for two cars.

Additional Information: Pets and smoking are not permitted at High House, making it suitable for guests with allergies. Bed linen and bath towels are provided, and complimentary WiFi and utilities are included.
