Tall Ships is a characterful coastal holiday house set within the historic harbour village of Charlestown, just a short walk from the UNESCO World Heritage Site harbour, excellent cafes and restaurants, and the friendly Rashleigh Arms pub. Arranged over two floors with a sunny courtyard garden and a lovely conservatory, the house feels welcoming rather than showy, with comfortable rooms that suit real holidays with family and good friends. Natural light flows readily through the house, and the layout offers a good balance between shared living space and quieter bedrooms above. After days spent outdoors, it's the kind of place where you can come back, kick off sandy shoes and settle in without fuss.
Charlestown is one of England's best-preserved Georgian ports, where tall ships still moor in the harbour, and the rhythm of village life hasn't been lost to tourism. The waterfront is lined with cafés, pubs and restaurants, many with outdoor seating overlooking the sea, and there's a gentle sense of activity without the crowds found in larger resorts. The harbour beach is ideal for paddling and sea swimming, while coastal paths begin right at the village edge. Despite its popularity, Charlestown remains a working place, with locals, walkers and sailors sharing the same narrow streets.
From the front door of your holiday home, the South West Coast Path leads towards Carlyon Bay in one direction and along the coast to Mevagissey in the other, offering dramatic views across St Austell Bay. The Eden Project is only a short drive away, while the Lost Gardens of Heligan make a rewarding half-day trip inland. Fowey's harbour, sailing scene and independent shops are also within easy reach. This holiday cottage in Charlestown provides a relaxed base for exploring the south Cornish coast, with the sea never far from view.
