About The Old Rectory

The Old Rectory is a fantastic collection of self-catering apartments in one of the most desirable parts of Cornwall. Surrounded by private gardens on the edge of Lanreath and 100 metres from the village shop, the apartments sleep between two to eight guests. Depending on availability, they can be booked together to accommodate larger parties and are ideal for everyone from couples escaping for a romantic break, to families with young children and extended groups of family and friends celebrating a special occasion.

Lanreath is a friendly community with the village shop and post office set close to the village green. St. Marnarch's Church has played an important role in village life since the 15th century. Although it is relaxing and rural, Lanreath is only two miles from Pelynt village and the popular Jubilee Inn, and only six miles from the fishing villages of Looe and Polperro, with a choice of safe beaches and dog friendly beaches at Looe.

The area is jam-packed with things to do whether you take your bucket and spade to build sandcastles and poke around in the rockpools on East Looe Beach or Millendreath Beach, or walk along the coastal footpath between Looe and Polperro, rewarding your efforts with an ice-cream or a cold drink at either end. Looe Island and the water around it are part of a designated Marine Conservation Zone. Regular boat trips run from the mainland between April and September, allowing visitors to see the resident grey seals and variety of birds. There is no shortage of local guides offering boat tours, and businesses where you can hire surfboards, paddle boards or kayaks.

Plants thrive in Cornwall’s climate and there are lots of lovely places to enjoy their beauty. The Eden Project and the Lost Garden of Heligan are two of the best-known gardens in Cornwall, but you can also visit Trewithen, Trelissick, and the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery. The National Trust manages several stunning properties including Lanhydrock and Cotehele. Other top attractions in Cornwall include the Monkey Sanctuary, the Porfell Wildlife Park and Sanctuary, Adrenalin quarry and Port Elliot.

Staying at The Old Rectory gives you the best of both worlds - easy access to Cornwall’s world famous beaches with the space and peace of a country property.

Accommodation Comprises:

The six apartments at The Old Rectory range from one to three bedrooms. Epphaven is a two bedroom, first-floor apartment that sleeps four people in its standard set-up, or up to six guests. It can also be combined with the adjoining one-bedroom Gorran apartment to sleep up to eight people.

  • The living room, dining room and kitchen are one sociable, open plan space. The room faces west and benefits from the afternoon sun. The window, which is close to climbing wisteria that fragrances the room in early summer, overlooks the garden with views of the surrounding countryside.
  • A three-seater sofa and two armchairs provide very comfortable seating. There is a television and a DVD player, and the apartment also has WiFi.
  • The dining area has a traditional style table and chairs for four people.
  • A well-equipped kitchen includes a microwave and a large fridge/freezer, as well as basic cleaning equipment.
  • The master bedroom is a generously sized double with a chest of drawers, bedside tables and reading lamps. It is a corner room and has dual aspect windows with views of the garden.
  • A twin room has two full-sized single beds with the potential for a further two single beds if required. It also has a large chest of drawers, and a sofa, as well as bedside tables and reading lights.
  • The family bathroom has a bath with shower above, WC and handbasin.

Outside:

  • Guests benefit from the use of a peaceful garden with seating and sun loungers. There is a large flat lawn area for ball games and a children's play area. A barbecue is available for guest use.
  • Games barn with air hockey, table football, table tennis and a pool table is popular with guests of all ages.
  • The heated outdoor pool is available from May to the end of August.
  • A separate laundry room has washing machines and a tumble drier.
  • There is off street parking.

Additional Information: The apartments have WiFi and central heating. Prices include electricity, bed linen and heating between the months of Sept to May inclusive (outside of this period a charge applies). Please bring your own towels (or they can be hired at an additional charge). Depending on availability, Epphaven can be booked together with other apartments to accommodate larger groups. Well behaved pets are welcome with prior agreement from the owner. Smoking is not allowed inside the building, but the owners have provided an outdoor shelter in the garden for those who wish to smoke. Epphaven is located on the first floor but the owner does have ground floor apartments for those with limited mobility. Changeover is normally on a Saturday during peak (May to Sept) but the owner can be flexible outside of this period. Short breaks available from September to May and on a last minute basis during the busier summer months.
