Seafarers is a former HM Coastguard cottage sitting high above Mevagissey on the sunniest side of the village, enjoying breathtaking panoramic views across the harbour, sea and surrounding valley. Accessed via a quiet private lane with designated parking (a real bonus during peak season!), the cottage is quietly tucked away while remaining close to the heart of the harbour, coastal footpath, and popular restaurants and pubs like The Kings Arms. Inside, historic character has been carefully preserved and paired with a clean, contemporary design that appeals to couples and families with older children. Exposed stonework and original features sit alongside a calming coastal palette inspired by the colours of the sea and sky. The kitchen is practical and well laid out for proper cooking, while the sitting and dining space feels light and welcoming, designed for relaxed days indoors as much as evenings spent unwinding after time on the coast.
Set on the hillside above the harbour, Mevagissey is one of Cornwall’s most atmospheric fishing villages, where working boats still land their daily catch. Narrow streets wind between pastel-painted cottages, independent shops and long-established pubs, including The Fountain Inn, which has been welcoming locals and visitors for centuries. Down on the quayside, seafood restaurants make the most of ultra-fresh local fish, while cafés and bakeries provide easy options for breakfast or a late afternoon treat. Despite its popularity, Mevagissey has retained a strong sense of community, with local museums, galleries and regular events offering insight into the village’s fishing heritage.
From Seafarers, it’s easy to join the South West Coast Path on foot, with routes heading south towards Portmellon and Gorran Haven or north towards Pentewan and St Austell Bay. Inland, the Lost Gardens of Heligan lie just a few miles away and reward an unhurried visit, while the Eden Project is within easy driving distance for a day out. Charlestown, Fowey and the wider south Cornish coastline are all well placed for exploring, whether you’re drawn to sheltered beaches, coastal walks or historic harbours. This holiday cottage in Mevagissey offers a peaceful base with memorable views, while keeping Cornwall’s south coast close at hand.
