Wrayrigg is in a stunning location in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, close to the heart of Cowgill and within walking distance of the hospitable Sportsman's Inn pub. The period cottage will charm you with its relaxing atmosphere that welcomes you from the moment you arrive. With space for up to six people to sleep in three bedrooms, the 19th-Century home, which was once the farmhouse of a local estate, is ideal for families and friends.
The Yorkshire Dales are captivating in every season, offering a wealth of beautiful footpaths to appeal to everyone from those who enjoy the challenge of a long-distance trek up mountains and down into valleys, to those who prefer a gentle stroll along a flat riverside path. One thing all of the footpaths around Wrayrigg have in common is that they pass through beautiful scenery full of unforgettable views. The Dalesway Walk and the River Dee run not 200 metres from the garden wall, giving guests immediate access to popular routes, while the Ribblehead Viaduct is only a few miles away, and the Upper Wharfe Valley which is famous for its spectacular views.
There is more than enough to fill your time with fun during your stay at Wrayrigg. Cheese aficionados should put a visit to the famous Wensleydale Creamery at the top of their itinerary, while if you appreciate history, then a day spent exploring the Swaledale Museum and Bolton Castle is for you. Fish at Bainbridge on the River Bain, the shortest river in England, or try your luck catching supper along the Rivers Wharfe or Ure. Kids love exploring The Forbidden Corner, while Hawes is perfect for picking up supplies for your self-catering holiday, browsing and enjoying a restorative pot of Yorkshire tea. Climbing, caving, horse riding, cycling and mountain biking are all widely accessible for everyone from the novice to the expert.
Wrayrigg is ideally located for discovering the beauty of both the North Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria, being only four miles from Dent and eight miles from Sedburgh. You will not regret treating your family to a holiday in this breathtaking environment, especially when the surroundings are as comfortable as those at Wrayrigg.
