About 2 Rowan Cottage

2 Rowan Cottages is in the picturesque village of Buckden, close to Buckden Pike and with easy access to some of the most beautiful footpaths in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, including the Dales Way. The pretty stone cottage is within walking distance of the village shop and the welcoming Buck Inn pub. It's ideal for couples of friends as it comfortably sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms, and it's also dog-friendly so everyone in the family can enjoy a relaxing holiday in these gorgeous surroundings.

Buckden is part of some of the most beautiful landscape in Britain. There are incredible walks and cycling routes from the door, and views that will take your breath away in any season. Follow the Dales Way to nearby Kettlewell, taking in sights of the River Wharfe and the Upper Wharfedale Valley, and passing through Redmire Wood. The four-mile route should take one to two hours and is a fantastic way to enjoy the incredible scenery. A more strenuous walk leads over Buckden Pike where even the challenge of the boggy ground near the top will be forgotten by the spectacular sight of the Yorkshire Dales laid out before you.

Cyclists and mountain bikers are drawn to the Upper Wharfdale Valley and the area around the cottage, where the roads were part of the Tour de France course in 2014. The area around nearby Langstrothdale is managed by the National Trust who maintain an excellent network of cycling trails and who offer a free cuppa to anyone who arrives at a National Trust cafe in Yorkshire or the North East by bike. The Nidderdale Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is within easy reach, as is the Forest of Bowland AONB, so there is a massive variety of footpaths, mountain bike trails and bridleways to explore.

About half an hour south of Buckden, Skipton is a fantastic place to shop. It has a great choice of independent retailers and a thriving market every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Skipton also has wonderful cafes, pubs and restaurants, an impressive castle, and a calendar of fun events that make it a fun place to visit all year round.

Despite its popularity as a holiday destination for walkers, cyclists and anyone who loves a gorgeous view, the Yorkshire Dales is so vast that it never feels busy or crowded. The diverse landscape has something for everyone whether you can't wait to climb every mountain, love the freedom of being the only person for miles, or prefer to get your exercise strolling around charming market towns and villages. Basing yourself at 2 Rowan Cottages ensures you are within easy reach of everything, enjoying peaceful surroundings and comfortable accommodation that will see you start each day refreshed and energised.
