Elmet Farmhouse is a beautiful old Yorkshire farmhouse with enchanting interiors and ravishing hilltop views. Located in an idyllic spot above picturesque Hebden Bridge, the farmhouse overlooks Hardcastle Crags, a lush wooded valley owned by the National Trust. Comfortable and elegant, the farmhouse has a big toasty lounge with stone mullion windows and a magnificent fireplace with a wood-burning stove. Inspiring mid-century furnishings and lamps and wallpapers by local artist Hannah Nunn give the farmhouse a delightful atmosphere. Encircled by meadows, the farmhouse has a lovely garden with stunning views of plunging valleys and purple hills.
Finalist in Welcome to Yorkshires White Rose Awards, Elmet has three lovely bedrooms and a splendid farmhouse kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Accommodating six guests with plenty of room to spare, this spacious cottage provides a fabulous luxury retreat for families and gatherings of friends. Perfect for romantic getaways, birthdays and weekend breaks, Elmet is a wonderful bolt-hole with alluring window seats and lots of vintage games
Located in the village of Pecket Well, a short walk from the Robin Hood Inn, Elmet is just 2 miles from the fascinating town of Hebden Bridge with its unique double-decker terraces clinging to the hillsides. Voted Best Small Market Town in the Great British High Street Awards, Hebden is renowned for its quirky independent shops and friendly cafes and pubs. Perched above is historic Heptonstall with its ruined 13th century chapel and steep cobbled street lined with hand-weavers' cottages.
The spectacular landscape in this area has inspired many writers including local poet Ted Hughes and the world-famous Brontë sisters from over the hill in nearby Haworth. Elmet Farmhouse is also in the heart of Gentleman Jack Country. The hit TV series about charismatic Anne Lister (starring Suranne Jones) was filmed locally at Shibden Hall. Halifax is also home to the magnificent Piece Hall, one of Yorkshires architectural gems. This astonishing Grade I listed 18th century cloth market, featured recently on the Antiques Roadshow, is just over the road from Eureka National Children's Museum.
Walkers and cyclists love the dramatic hilly countryside in this breathtaking part of Yorkshire, with numerous footpaths and packhorse trails through hidden dales. The landscape is incredibly varied, with winding riverside tracks, pretty canal towpaths, woods full of bluebells, buttercup meadows and rugged open heather moors. A nature-lovers paradise, there are deer, owls and pheasants on the doorstep, woodpeckers and herons in the woods and curlews and lapwings on the moors. The glorious Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale AONB are also within easy reach, including Wharfedale, Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Brimham Rocks
Cultural attractions abound in this diverse corner of Yorkshire, including the UNESCO World Heritage village of Saltaire and the award-winning Hepworth Museum and Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The ancient city of York, the Victorian splendours of Leeds and the handsome spa towns of Harrogate and Ilkley are all within close range too. In fact theres so much to do, a week just isnt enough!
