About Pinecone Cottage

Pinecone Cottage sleeps up to four guests (older children welcome) in two double bedrooms and is perfectly placed for exploring Suffolk, sitting in the village of Middleton close to Sudbury and quaint villages like Long Melford and Lavenham.

With a log burner for cosy winter nights and a good-size enclosed garden with summer house for sitting, BBQ and ample outdoor lighting so you can enjoy the garden or summer house even when the sun goes down.

The country lanes of Suffolk are just made for cycling with a relatively flat landscape, lots to see enroute and good welcoming pubs peppering the countryside for when you need to refuel (bike storage available). There are also miles of footpaths criss crossing the countryside including a pleasant short walk from Pinecone Cottage through the country lanes to Henny Swan, a nice pub offering a good pint or bite to eat (dogs are welcome on lead in the riverside garden).

The surrounding Wool Towns and villages of Suffolk are steeped in history and olde world charm and offer a great choice of excellent restaurants and shopping opportunities for those who prefer the fun of shopping at independent shops and boutiques. Browse the galleries and antique shops of Long Melford, marvel at the Guildhall and higgledy piggledy medieval cottages of Lavenham; work off lunch in Halstead with a leisurely stroll along the River Colne or have a picnic at Sudbury Water Meadows after you have explored its ancient market town. Sudbury is only five minutes by car from the cottage (or a 45 minute walk) and has a great choice of interesting shops, a theatre and a weekly market on a Thursday and Saturday.

Slightly further afield but still within easy driving distance is the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds, Constable Country and Flatford Mill, Ipswich with its bustling marina and the Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty if you want a day by the sea.

With Sudbury's train station (just ten minutes away) providing quick access to and from London within an hour, Pinecone Cottage is a good choice at any time of the year. Perfect whether you want a few nights away to catch up with friends or a little romance, or you want a longer holiday to enjoy the many delights that Suffolk has to offer.
