Withersdale Cottages are nicely situated in the picturesque Waveney Valley on the borders of Norfolk/Suffolk, providing a superb base from which to explore all that both counties have to offer, from their local market towns to the heritage coast.
Beautifully converted, these two Grade II listed holiday cottages offer a lovely mix of modern conveniences with traditional charm and are both dog friendly with a large garden for them and lovely local walks. Golden Cross (featured in this advert) sleeps four guests and The Kiln is ideal for couples sleeping two. Both cottages can also be rented together for parties of six, making them ideal for families who perhaps want to take parents away with them.
The owner has provided everything you should need to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable, from a good quality shower to a comfy king-size bed for a restful nights sleep, as well as a welcome tray for your arrival. The owners are on hand during your stay to provide as much or as little knowledge of the local area as needed.
Just two miles from Withersdale Cottages, the Norfolk market town of Harleston provides a good range of conveniences including shops (plus supermarket) for provisions, pubs and restaurants for a meal out and takeaway’s for a night off cooking. It also has a weekly market each Wednesday. Also within easy driving distance are the Suffolk towns of Halesworth, Diss, Bungay and Beccles, each with its own charm adding variety to the good range of shops and eateries in the area.
For those seeking the cry of the gull, Southwold with its impressive pier (serving amazing fish and chips), beach huts and sandy beach is less than half an hours drive. The popular Suffolk coastal town of Aldeburgh, the seaside village of Dunwich and Walberswick with its glorious sandy beach are too within easy reach; or head to Lowestoft or Great Yarmouth for some old fashioned seaside fun.
There are a great choice of eateries locally for those who prefer to not cook whilst away from cafe's for a coffee and wedge of cake after a long coastal walk, to pubs and restaurants for a meal out. The closest is in the local village and just a mile on foot from the cottages. Norwich is within easy driving distance (20-minutes) offering yet further choice for eating out, shopping and entertainment with theatres, galleries to browse and attractions
Locally, guests can enjoy exploring the network of tracks and roads on foot or bike. There is superb fishing on one of the six lakes at Weybread or the River Waveney. The area is also good for birdwatchers and those with a passion for wildlife with a vast array of birds to spot either in the countryside, local fens, around the coast or the RSPB nature reserves.
