About Abbey Farm

Abbey Farm is a beautiful farmhouse with space for up to 10 guests to stay comfortably in five bedrooms. The layout is perfect for large or extended families or groups of friends, whether they are enjoying a fun annual get-together or staying in the area for a celebration like a wedding or a special birthday. The house has plenty of room both indoors and out to also be suitable for organisers of boot camps, retreats or workshops, while the location on the border between Norfolk and Suffolk is perfect at any time of the year.

The farmhouse is in an idyllic spot between Eye in Suffolk and Diss in Norfolk, surrounded by beautiful countryside and close to the region's favourite sights and attractions. A great way to start exploring and get your bearings is via the circular walking route that leads from the front door. Alternatively, take advantage of the relatively flat landscape and the house's secure bike storage and plan some leisurely rides in the countryside. Thetford Forest is about a 25-minute drive from Abbey Farm to give even more choice of places to walk and ride.

A day at the seaside is within easy reach as the beautiful Suffolk Heritage Coast is approximately 28-miles from the house. Take your pick from Southwold's fabulous beach and pier (serving very good fish and chips!) and Lowestoft or Aldeburgh in easy distance both of which have a great choice of restaurants selling fresh crab and lobster.

Eye is a pretty village with a church dating back to 1470 and an excellent choice of amenities. Diss is bigger than Eye with a Friday market and popular delicatessens for those who take their cooking seriously or who love to eat well. Local attractions include Banham Zoo, Oasis Camel Park, Framlingham Castle, Bressingham Steam and Gardens, and the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary. Yaxley Fishing Lake is less than three miles from Abbey Farm and well-stocked with carp and tench.

Further afield, the ancient city of Norwich has a plenty of sights to see as well as place to eat, drink and shop or perhaps you'd prefer Ipswich or Bury St Edmunds - both of which are approximately a 45-minute drive of the house.

With such a lovely setting inside and out, so many attractions on the doorstep and a location that is conveniently accessible, Abbey Farm is a superb choice if you are looking for a large holiday home to get all your friends and family together in comfort and style.

Accommodation Comprises:

Abbey Farm is a gorgeous period property carefully renovated to bring your Country Living dreams into a beautiful reality. Accommodation is over three levels.

Ground Floor:

  • Lovely living room with exposed beams, natural textures and sumptuous furnishings where guests can stretch out in front of the fireplace with log burning stove. Big bay windows and glass French doors open into the garden and let in lots of natural light to make the room a pleasant space both in the day and evening. The living room has a TV with Netflix and Freeview, a DVD player and a CD player.
  • Separate dining room, also with a wood-burning stove and glazed doors that open into the garden. The room looks gorgeous when decorated for a special occasion like Christmas, but its dimensions and furnishings ensure it's always a welcoming space for meals with family and friends.
  • Country-style kitchen fitted with modern appliances that include a gas range cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer and a dishwasher. The owners have made sure there is ample crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils so that self-catering is as easy on holiday as it is at home.
  • Utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
  • Cloakroom with a WC and a handbasin.

First Floor:

  • Master bedroom with a kingsized (5ft-wide) bed and a TV with Freeview channels. Ensuite with shower and WC.
  • Second bedroom with a double bed, TV with a DVD player and Freeview channels.
  • Twin room with two (2'6-wide) beds that can be joined to create a kingsized bed if required. Please let the owner know your preference when booking.
  • Family bathroom with a large shower, bath, WC, basin and a heated towel rail.

Top Floor:

  • Double bedroom suite with a double bed, a TV with Freeview channels and an ensuite with a bath, WC and basin.
  • Spacious twin bedroom with two single beds and a table and chairs.

Outside: Large enclosed mature rear garden featuring a fenced pond, a gazebo and seating areas, garden furniture, a charcoal barbecue and a chiminea. The house has lockable storage for bikes and other sports equipment, and off-street parking for up to five cars.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen, bath towels and an initial basket of logs for the wood burners are included. A travel cot (no bedding), highchair and stair gates are available. Seven, four and three night breaks available (minimum three nights). Friday changeover unless otherwise agreed. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome with prior agreement from the owner. Smoking and vaping are not permitted indoors.

Access: Please note that Abbey Farm is a period property with uneven floors, curved staircase to first floor and steep staircase to second floor.
