Foster's Farmhouse dating from the 1600s and owned by the same family for nearly half a century, the holiday home has a wonderful atmosphere and space for up to 10 people to stay in comfort. The interior features charming touches like antique furniture, original artwork created by the owner and their friends, and an easy-to-use electric AGA for self-catering. Outside are six acres of grounds, including a tennis court and a barn with table tennis. Located in a picturesque spot above the tiny Suffolk village of Hartest and within walking distance of The Crown pub, Foster's Farmhouse is ideal for larger families, reunions, retreats, workshops, and training weekends.
Hartest is a pretty village with coloured houses set around a village green, in gorgeous countryside 25-minutes south of Bury St Edmunds and less than an hour west of Ipswich. It's a quintessential English country village with a large boulder on the village green that has been the source of myth and speculation for over 300 years. From here, it's easy to explore delights like the medieval half-timbered buildings of Lavenham and the village of Long Melford, whose setting inspired Gainsborough and Constable. Bury is renowned for the quality of food, whether you dine at one of its many cafes and restaurants, shop for fresh produce at the Saturday market or partake in a pint of Greene King beer and a pub meal. Sudbury is also within easy reach with Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Tesco, and Aldi supermarkets.
Rural Suffolk offer spring fairs, summer fetes, harvest festivals, and winter celebrations that bring the community together. The beautiful landscape, friendly people, and historic towns and villages combine to create a place where everyone is welcome. It's great for cycling and walking with a favourite local route down to the crown pub and pretty village church. Other local attractions include Kentwell Hall, Ickworth House, Milford Hall, Giffords Hall winery very nearby, St Edmundsbury Cathedral, and the Gainsborough Museum.
Foster's Farm is available for week-long stays, weekend bookings and other lengths of stay by arrangement, all year round, depending on availability.
