Partridge is perfect for couples as it offers 5-Star Gold accommodation in a beautiful rural setting in the heart of the Waveney Valley. It is one of a collection of eight luxurious self-catering Norfolk cottages at Wheatacre Hall Barns, and can be booked independently or together with one or more of the other cottages on site, all of which offer guests access to amenities like riverfront fishing from the surrounding farmland, a family games room, a gym and an outdoor hot tub. The kitchen is very well-equipped for self-catering but if you feel like a meal out, or just a quiet pint, the Wheatacre White Lion pub is within walking distance.
Wheatacre Hall Barns are in a fantastic location. The 1,100-acre family-run farm feels peaceful and remote, yet is only a few miles from the market town of Beccles where there are plenty of places to eat and drink as well as an outdoor swimming pool and the Big Dog ferry that takes passengers to Geldeston Locks. There is a twice-monthly farmers' market on the first and third Saturday morning of the month, but there is no need to worry if you miss it as the town is well served by local shops and there are four supermarkets (Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Asda) through whom you can arrange for a delivery of groceries. Beccles is also a good place to hire a boat for touring the region's rivers and waterways or fishing.
Speaking of waterways, the famous Norfolk Broads are only a few miles from the cottage. This beautiful landscape is perfect for bird watching, walking, cycling and sailing. On the other side of The Broads, and around a half an hour's drive from Partridge and the other cottages at Wheatacre Hall Barns, the seaside awaits at Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Southwold, with vast expanses of sand and freshly caught seafood.
The owners of Wheatacre Hall Barns have created a network of walking and cycling paths around the farm from which guests can bird watch and spot the farm's herd of dairy cows. Anglers can fish from the banks of the river or go to the lakes nearby at Aldeby Hall, while golfers can play a relaxing round or two at Caldecott Hall and Rookery Park golf courses. Historic Norwich, which is one of the best preserved medieval cities in the United Kingdom, is 18 miles away, with other nearby attractions including Pleasurewood Hills, Somerleyton Hall, skydiving and go-karting.
Partridge is a beautiful year-round destination for a relaxing holiday in Norfolk, whether you are escaping for a romantic long weekend or on holiday with your extended family and friends.
