Deckhouse Cabin is a pretty whitewashed timber holiday cabin on a small organic farm in Somerset. It's perfect for couples or families, with younger guests excited to wake to views of fields with sheep and alpaca. The cabin has two bedrooms - one with a kingsize bed and the other with small single bunks that are ideal for children up to 12. It's a proper "escape to the country" bolthole with lots of comfortable features, including a wood-fired outdoor hot tub. The owners of Middle Stone Farm raise free-range chickens, ducks and geese, and their farm shop is always well-stocked with their own produce and delicious food and drink from other local businesses.
Middle Stone Farm is in Brompton Ralph, three miles from the Exmoor National Park, 25-minutes from the coast, and within easy reach of the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's a peaceful location with beautiful views and lots to keep the kids happy. Bring or hire a bike and go for long rides, testing your legs in the Quantocks, where hill climbs are rewarded with panoramic views. Book a guided pony trek at a local stable, take an Exmoor 4WD Safari, or have some competitive family fun on the obstacles at The Bear Trail in Cullompton.
Blue Anchor Bay and Dunster Beach are less than half an hour's drive from the cabin. Minehead can get busy, but it's worth facing summer crowds if you're yearning for a traditional seaside resort atmosphere with a promenade, arcades and other attractions. Porlock is great for coasteering, kayaking or just whiling away an hour or two browsing the craft shops at Porlock Weir. Try Saunton and Putsborough for surfing and bodyboarding, while Kilve is the place to go when hunting fossils. Within an hour of Deckhouse Cabin and Middle Stone Farm are the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, Lyme Regis and Charmouth, and pretty South Devon coastal villages such as Beer, Exmouth, and Budleigh Salterton.
Deckhouse Cabin is one of two self-catering holiday homes at Middle Stone Farm, where the owner also has seven glamping pitches with Safari Tents (some of which are dog-friendly). Each property has its own private wood-fired outdoor hot tub. Depending on availability, you can book them individually or together to accommodate groups of friends and extended families. Please see the owner's website for details.

No pets in the Deckhouse Cabin (if you are looking for dog-friendly accommodation, please visit the owners website and see their 3 pet-friendly safari tents). There is good 4G signal around the farm (if you are on EE). Breakfast hampers and homemade meals can be ordered on the reservation form as can a travel cot, high chair and baby bath.
