About The Stable

The Stable is a stunning mix of old and new. The 200-year old stone building has been transformed into a stylish, contemporary holiday cottage with one bedroom that is perfect for a romantic escape or a relaxing solo break in the Peak District National Park. There is a comfortable sofa bed that can sleep two more people, to make The Stable ideal for friends as well. Not only is Curbar Edge just a five-minute walk from the door, but the friendly Bridge Inn pub is also within walking distance.

The Peak District is a beautiful holiday destination at any time of the year. It's full of panoramic views, fantastic footpaths, cycling routes and bridleways, attractive towns and historic villages. One of the region's best-known attractions, Chatsworth House, is a 10-minute drive from the door, as is the pretty town of Bakewell where you'll find the only weekly market in the Peak District on Monday plus the second largest farmers' market in the UK on the last Saturday of the month. Other local attractions include Haddon Hall, Matlock and the Heights of Abraham, and Gulliver's Kingdom, while the spa town of Buxton is only about half an hour away.

Spending time outdoors is a pleasure when you visit the Peak District, which is renowned for its spectacular seasonal colours. Whether you visit when the spring flowers are at their zenith; to escape from the heat of the summer sun under a green woodland canopy; when the golden moors are ablaze with vibrant autumnal colours; or to admire the glittering white frosts on a winter walk, there's a view for you. As well as the nearby footpath leading to Curbar Edge, there is the Monsal Trail for cycling that passes a few miles from the cottage, as well as routes around Ladybower Reservoir and Monsal Head. Go wild swimming at Barbrook Reservoir, or spend a happy few hours sailing, canoeing or windsurfing on Carsington Water.

There are no limits to how you can enjoy yourself while staying in the Peak District. Whether you adore being outdoors as much as possible, enjoy shopping, have an interest in history, or just love a good view, you'll find what you're seeking here.
