About Peak District Holiday Barn

Peak District Holiday Barn is a large, lovingly restored barn & cottage annex in the heart of the White Peaks sleeping up to 24 people, ideal for large groups who want to spend time together with the rural backdrop of the Peak District. Enjoy eating and drinking together in the extra large open plan lounge with gritstone fireplace and multi fuel burner, dining space and kitchen. All mod cons are provided for you, including Sky TV, wifi, music system, and a wide range of cooking utensils. Alternatively we can help you find a private chef, which is a popular choice for large groups at the barn. The bedrooms in the barn are set out across both floors, and include a range of configurations including a four poster bedroom, double bedrooms, kingsize bedrooms, family room and large bunk rooms. There are bathrooms are on both floors,  and the utility room, which doubles as your entrance, provides plenty of space for muddy boots and coats. The cottage annex is single storey providing 2 large bedrooms each with its own ensuite.

Across the drive you will find the playroom, complete with bifold doors, leather sofas, pool table, darts, table tennis, as well as a pizza oven. Externally a covered terrace looks out onto next door's farm, where you will also find the large wood burning hot tub, which can be hired as part of your stay.

The barn includes two sunny lawns which are great to use in nicer weather; grab a deckchair and relax in the grounds. With only a farm next door and views out across the countryside, it's a nice place to switch off.

Our large wood burning hot tub can be hired for £350, which includes logs and kindling.

Dogs are welcome at the barn - we charge £20 per dog, and our rules are that they are not allowed on any furniture or in bedrooms.

Prices start at £3150 for a 2 night stay, with competitive rates for extra nights.

Location (The Peak District)

Peak District Holiday Barn provides groups with a great opportunity to meet up and enjoy everything the Peak District has to offer. Whether you are looking for a change of scene and some down time, or prefer more active pursuits including walking, climbing or cycling, the barn provides a safe and stunning environment for you to relax in.

The barn is in the tiny hamlet of Wardlow Mires, very accessible by car due to its proximity to the A623. It looks out onto an unusual large rocky outcrop known as Peter's Stone, and the dramatic landscape of Cressbrook Dale. Just across the road from the barn, you can enjoy a circular walk, or continue through the Dale up to the stunning views of the Monsal Head viaduct, ending in Bakewell via the Monsal Trail. Bakewell is  famous for Bakewell Pudding and Bakewell Tart, both in plentiful supply in many bakeries in the town. If you fancy a swim, Bakewell also has a public swimming pool, or try Hathersage if you prefer an outdoor pool. Buxton is a great town to visit, ideal for a spa experience at Buxton Crescent. We are not too far from Chatsworth House and Farm Shop, and Haddon Hall, both ideal days out for all the family. Some of the best pubs are close by to the barn, including The Barrell at Bretton famous for its panoramic views, The Red Lion at Litton, and The Bull's Head in Foolow, as well as some fantastic pubs in Tideswell.

The village of Eyam is nearby, famous for its links to the plague which began in the village in 1665, leading to a decision to quarantine the entire village to prevent further spread of the disease. The story is told in the local museum, and with some nice cafes, it's great place to visit. For a local walk, try Padley Gorge, where you can paddle in a stream, climb boulders and end with an ice cream, as well as walk through the National Trust's Longshaw Estate. Stoney Middleton is very close for more serious climbers. For shopping further afield, you can enjoy a day out at Meadowhall in Sheffield or the Trafford Centre. If you are looking for something active, try Go Ape in Buxton, or the thrills of Alton Towers.
