School House is on the western edge of the North York Moors National Park, in the quiet village of Ingleby Arncliffe and convenient for the A19 and A172. The owners have recently refurbished this lovely holiday cottage, making the most of its period character while offering modern visitors all the comforts they expect from a high-quality self-catering property. It's large, sleeping six people in three bedrooms with a flexible layout that suits families of all ages. The amenities for self-catering are excellent, but you're only a short walk from the Blue Bell Inn if you feel like a meal or a pint of locally brewed ale.
The Yorkshire Moors are spectacular. The landscape changes with the light, offering different yet consistently beautiful views. The National Park is famous for the quality of its footpaths and bridleways. There truly is a route to suit everyone. Enjoy a gentle pootle that will build your appetite for a pub lunch at Swainby and Osmotherley, both around an hour away, or plan a day-long climb that will test your mettle and reward your efforts with the sense of being on top of the world. If you prefer to explore on two wheels, National Cycle Route 65 is nearby which can also link up to routes 165, 656 and 71. If you need another reason to stay in School House, you're only 30 miles or about 45-minutes from the coast and breathtaking beaches like Staithes, Runswick Bay, and Whitby.
Groceries and supplies for self-catering are readily accessible in Northallerton and Stokesley. In addition to familiar supermarkets, you can shop at weekly markets, family-run butchers, farm shops and traditional grocers. It's worth skipping breakfast at least once, saving your appetite for morning tea. The North York Moors is known as "the Capital of Cake" due to its wealth of excellent bakers, welcoming tea rooms and generous portions. There is a village coffee shop in Ingleby Cross and Betty's famous Cafe Tearooms in Northallerton. Yorkshire takes its tea very seriously!
There is always something fun to do when you stay at the School House. Its location is ideal for places like Middlesborough, Ripon, Durham and Newcastle, and attractions such as the North York Moors Railway, abbeys and stately homes.
