The Cowshed may sound rustic, but this beautiful cottage is far from it. It has recently been refurbished to a high standard by its owners, who have carefully maintained charming original features while incorporating modern touches that contemporary guests expect. The dog-friendly cottage sleeps up to five people in two lovely ensuite bedrooms with accommodation all on one level without any stairs to navigate. It is on Geufron Farm in the Snowdonia National Park, a non-working farm with 20 private acres of land less than three miles from Tywyn beach and about a 10-minute walk from the Peniarth Arms at Bryncrug.
You won't find a more idyllic location than Geufron Farm, which is in the south-western corner of the Snowdonia National Park close to both the coast and the mountains. Tywyn is a Blue Flag beach which is a favourite with families who love its clean water, soft sand and opportunities to swim and paddleboard. There is a long promenade with a playground at one end, and cafes and other amenities within easy reach. The Wales Coastal Path goes along the seafront, giving panoramic views over Cardigan Bay, with lucky visitors able to spot porpoises, bottle-nose dolphins and the seabirds who thrive in the protected landscape. Also within easy reach and just few miles away is Aberdyfi which is very popular with families who enjoy paddle boarding, crabbing off the pier, browsing shops for gifts and relaxing on a lovely beach.
Hiking and mountain biking are possible all year round, with footpaths and trails to suit all abilities. The farm is in the picturesque Dysynni Valley where the diverse landscape includes the Dolgoch Falls and the Nant Gwernol waterfalls. Llyn Barfog (the Bearded Lake) is about six miles cross-country from The Cowshed. Despite its beauty, it's rare to see anyone else on the walk, which includes a spot where you can shout and hear a double echo. If all that hiking sounds too much like hard work, then book a seat on the narrow-gauge heritage Talyllyn Railway which carries passengers between Tywyn and Nant Gwernol.
It doesn't matter when you choose to holiday at The Cowshed - the fantastic location means that you'll never run out of places to see or things to do. It is one of five superb self-catering cottages at Geufron Farm which can, depending on availability, be booked together to accommodate groups of extended family or friends. Please see the owner's website for details.

Accommodation Comprises:
The Cowshed has far-reaching views over the valley from the front terrace. Original thick stone walls help to keep guests cool in summer and warm in winter, while the oak beams remind guests that, despite the modern conveniences, the cottage dates back over 200 years. Accommodation is all on one level.
Outside: The terrace has a table and chairs for relaxed meals outdoors, or sitting and marvelling at the breathtaking view. The garden is fenced all around and there is off-street parking next to the cottage. The owners have built a large enclosed dog field/walk for guests with pets - particularly handy for dogs who like an early morning or late night walk!
Additional information: Up to three house trained dogs welcome (pls speak to the owner if you would like to bring more). All on one level with ramp at access point so suitable for those who prefer to not climb stairs (doorways are not wide enough for wheelchair users). The local laundrette is happy to pick up and drop off. Cot and high chairs can be provided. All utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are provided. Locked bike storage can be pre-booked with the owners. Smoking is not permitted.
