Glas y Dorlan is the perfect holiday cottage for couples or small families, sleeping four people in two bedrooms with room for a cot. It has everything you'll need for a fantastic holiday, including nice mountain views. Glas y Dorlan is one of four superb dog-friendly cottages in the grounds of Eisteddfa Country House in the quiet village of Pentrefelin near Criccieth, where the owners also operate a successful fishery and cafe. Guests of Glas y Dorlan have complimentary access to coarse and catch-and-release fishing included with their stay (free of charge unless taking fish for the table).
Criccieth is always a great choice for a holiday. The Victorian coastal resort on the Llyn Peninsula has gorgeous beaches and the ruins of a medieval castle that make an excellent destination for a walk or a bike ride. There is a wide variety of places to eat and drink, so it's perfect for picking up a takeaway or to eat out if you don't feel like cooking. Alternatively, drive 10-15 minutes to Porthmadog for larger supermarkets.
Local attractions include Portmeirion, a 15-minute drive from the cottage, with intricately decorated, colourful buildings. Children love the Dwyfor Rabbit Farm and Animal Park in nearby Llanystumdwy, where there is also a museum dedicated to the life and achievements of former British Prime Minister Lloyd George. Take a ride on one of three heritage narrow-gauge railways that have a terminus in Porthmadog. The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway is the world's oldest railway company still operating. A journey to places like Dduallt, Caernarfon, Beddgelert and Tan-y-Bwlch is a wonderfully memorable way to experience Snowdonia's stunning landscape. The Snowdon Mountain Railway leaves from Llanberis to take people to the top of Snowdon and down again.
Within half an hour are places like Zip World, Bounce Below, Surf Snowdonia, and the jaw-dropping Caernarfon Castle. You can play golf, go horse riding, bring or hire a mountain bike for exhilarating off-road adventures, or go go-karting or bowling at nearby Glasfryn Parc.
