The Old Farmhouse is a stunning Snowdonia holiday home that looks as comfortable in its surroundings now, as it did when built in the 17th Century. As one of five fantastic holiday cottages on Geufron Farm, guests staying at the dog-friendly holiday home can enjoy scenic walks and bike rides from the doorstep, including to the nearby Peniarth Arms pub. The traditional farmhouse is an excellent choice for big families as it sleeps up to nine people in four spacious bedrooms with lots of living space to socialise together or find a quiet corner to relax with a cup of tea and a good book. The owners have retained the original period charm while bringing the accommodation up to date with high-quality appliances and modern furnishings.
Geufron Farm sits in 20 prime acres of Snowdonia National Park. It's a non-working farm, so you don’ t need to worry about muddy farmyards, although you have the benefit of being surrounded by acres of fields, woodland and countryside and even a friendly herd of alpacas. Walking and mountain biking are popular activities for locals and visitors, with most paths staying accessible all year round. Even outside the farm boundaries, you'll feel as if you're on an enormous private estate. The Dysynni Valley is heartbreakingly beautiful yet is often overlooked in favour of the better known Snowdonia tourist hotspots, which means fewer people on the trails. There's nothing quite so underwhelming as having to queue to reach the top of Snowdon. However, if you walk along the old Talyllyn Railway narrow-gauge line to Castell Cynfal or picnic at Dolgoch Falls or Nant Gwernol waterfall, you'll find it easy to appreciate the spectacular views. Alternatively, just a few miles away you will find Cadair Idris, the highest mountain in southern Snowdonia, which is a challenging yet beautiful walk.
Mountain bike enthusiasts will love the 650 acre Dyfi Bike Park which is less than half an hour away. Set in the beautiful Dyfi Forest and designed by the world champion mountain biking family, the Atherton's, the challenging downhill tracks are guaranteed to get your heart racing. Just a little further afield, there is a wider range of tracks to accommodate beginners through to experienced riders at the UK's first and largest dedicated mountain biking centre at Coed y Brenin.
Blue Flag beaches and the Cardigan Bay Coast Path are only a few miles from The Old Farmhouse. The nearest is Tywyn, which is dog-friendly and has a long waterfront promenade, with other nearby beaches including Aberdyfi, Northern Groyne beach at Ynyslas, and Twyni Bach that faces the River Dyfi. Ynyslas is a good spot for beach fishing, or crabbing off the pier at Aberdyfi might be more your style.
Day trips can include strolling along the Victorian seafront at Aberystwyth, a journey on the heritage Talyllyn Railway, browsing the shops at Dolgellau, and taking a dolphin-spotting boat trip. Depending on availability, The Old Farmhouse and Little Cottage can be booked together to accommodate up to 11 people, or book all five properties for holiday with extended family or up to 22 friends.

The Old Farmhouse is a period property with an authentic character that only comes from centuries of welcoming people over the threshold. The owners have done a fantastic job of retaining this warmth and charm while bringing it firmly into the 21st Century with modern finishes and stylish furnishings that blend seamlessly with original features. Accommodation is over two levels.

Outside: The views from the gardens are impressive. It's very "Snowdonia" to sit back with views of beautiful mountains and out to Cardigan bay. On cooler evenings guests will enjoy catching up on the days activities with a toasted marshmallow around the fire-pit. There's a paved terrace with garden furniture for lazy meals alfresco, and plenty of outdoor parking. Guests with dogs will enjoy the fenced garden & can use the enclosed dog field. Private parking is available in front of the property with extra spaces just a few metres away.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are all included. Up to 4 house trained dogs are welcome. Please add these when making your booking & speak with the owner if you want to bring more. Cots (no bedding), highchairs and stairgates are all available. Smoking/vaping is not permitted. Locked bike storage can be pre-booked with the owners.
