About Aeolian

Location and Places to Visit

Aeolian is a superb three-storey Victorian coastal townhouse, beautifully positioned in the heart of Criccieth, directly opposite the iconic castle and enjoying far-reaching views across Cardigan Bay. Just moments from the beach this exceptional home has been thoughtfully equipped so guests are truly looked after, combining timeless character with modern comfort, creating a stylish and spacious retreat perfect for multi-generational families, groups of friends, and dog-friendly coastal escapes.

Inside, Aeolian blends original features with fresh, contemporary interiors, offering generous living spaces designed for both relaxation and sociable gatherings. The property comfortably sleeps up to eight guests plus one infant across four thoughtfully presented bedrooms, including two elegant super king rooms, a twin room with two full-size single beds, and a charming bunk room ideal for children. A travel cot is also provided. Two well-appointed bathrooms, along with a convenient ground floor cloakroom, ensure comfort and practicality for all guests.

The home extends outdoors to an enclosed, suntrap garden complete with table and benches—perfect for morning coffee, alfresco dining, or unwinding after a day exploring the coast. Up to two dogs are warmly welcomed free of charge, and full fibre Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.

Aeolian’s prime location means the beach is just a two-minute walk away, while Criccieth’s pubs, restaurants, cafés, independent shops, and train station are all within easy reach. The town itself offers a delightful blend of charm and natural beauty, nestled between mountains and sea, with sweeping views across the bay and towards the dramatic peaks of Snowdonia. Two beautiful beaches sit either side of the castle headland, ideal for relaxed strolls, family days out, or simply soaking up the coastal scenery.

Food lovers are well catered for, with a range of popular local spots including the much-loved Cadwaladers ice cream shop, Castle Fish and Chips, and the vibrant Y Maes Food Hub. A particular highlight is Dylan’s Criccieth, set within a striking art deco, glass-fronted building designed by Clough Williams-Ellis, where guests can enjoy delicious food alongside spectacular sea views.

For those eager to explore, the Wales Coast Path runs right through the town, offering breathtaking coastal walks, while inland routes reveal woodland trails, streams, and waterfalls. Criccieth is ideally situated for discovering the Llŷn Peninsula, with nearby destinations including Pwllheli, Llanbedrog, Abersoch, Aberdaron, and Morfa Nefyn, as well as boat trips to Ynys Enlli (Bardsey Island). Wildlife enthusiasts may spot dolphins and seals offshore, while in autumn, the skies come alive with enchanting starling murmurations.

Further afield, North Wales offers an abundance of attractions, from the picturesque villages of Borth-y-Gest, Betws-y-Coed, and Beddgelert to the lakes and mountains of Llanberis and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). Explore historic landmarks such as Caernarfon, Conwy, and Harlech castles—part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site—or visit the enchanting Italianate village of Portmeirion. For adventure seekers, there are world-famous zip lines in Blaenau Ffestiniog, historic steam railways, copper mines, and the stunning Bodnant Garden.

Whether you’re planning a fun-filled family holiday, a coastal getaway with friends, or a relaxing break with your dog, Aeolian offers the perfect year-round base. Combining adventure and tranquillity in equal measure, it is a welcoming and comfortable retreat to return to at the end of each day.

Accommodation Comprises:

Aeolian is a stylish Victorian townhouse where the owners have preserved many original features while sympathetically bringing it up to date with 21st Century comforts and conveniences.

Accommodation is over three levels.

Ground Floor: The entrance hall features original arches, pitch pine staircase and slate flagstones with lots of space for hanging coats and hats and storing boots and shoes.
The sitting rooms has plenty of seating on two big sofas and armchairs along with shutters for privacy. Settle in for a family film night with a wall-mounted Smart TV and Blu-Ray player, choose a book from the well-stocked bookcase or simply relax.
Leading off the sitting room under the arch is the second sitting room with a large sofa, bucket chairs and a DAB radio/bluetooth speaker/CD player along with a dresser filled with board games. It's a lovely room for all seasons with glass French doors that open onto the sunny terrace.
Cook up a storm in the kitchen which is very well equipped with high-quality appliances that include a Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine, an electric milk frother, a Ninja air fryer, a microwave, double oven, washing machine and a dishwasher. The drawers and cupboards are packed with cutlery, crockery, utensils and equipment you'll need to cook for your family. Also included are thoughtful extras like a picnic basket and blanket for summer days and a slow cooker for warming winter meals with minimal effort. The light-filled dining area has a long table with bench seating and dining chairs and sits under twin Velux windows. Also in this space is a smart speaker, a wall-mounted TV and French doors that open into the private garden.
Neatly tucked away behind a sliding door is a cloakroom with a WC and handbasin.

First Floor: Features three bedrooms and a bathroom.
A double aspect bedroom with zip-link beds that are set up as a super-king bed as standard. All of the beds have deep sprung mattresses for comfort and are made-up with bed linen of luxurious quality. There is a wall-mounted Smart TV and seating area allowing guests to truly relax with fine views along with window shutters and blackout curtains.
Second bedroom with two full-sized (3ft-wide) single beds, ample storage and blackout curtains.
Bunk room with solid bunks that are ideal for children or teenagers, but which are also big enough to be comfortable for adults. The vaulted ceiling and window shutters are stylish features.
Family bathroom with beautiful limestone and slate tiles giving it a contemporary feel that contrasts well with the age of the property. The walk-in shower has a rainfall shower-head, and there is also a heated towel rail, WC and a hand basin.

Second Floor: The entire top floor is given over to the master bedroom suite, making the most of the space and affording guests with views of the castle and sea views at the front and the rear. There is a super king zip-link bed which is set up as a super-king as standard, a dressing area with armchairs, a large wall-mounted TV and a sitting area which can become a nursery area for the travel cot. An en-suite has a double ended free-standing bath with a Velux window above, separate shower, a heated towel rail, WC and a hand basin.
Outside: A private terrace garden is at the rear of the house, with a picnic table and benches so that guests can eat outside in fine weather.

Additional Information: WiFi, utilities, bed linen and bath towels are all included. There are also beach specific towels and hairdryers along with binoculars in the two larger bedrooms. One or two house-trained dogs are welcome. Smoking/Vaping is not permitted and BBQs are by prior arrangement only. Aeolian is available for holidays and short-breaks from February to December.
