The Granary is an idyllic retreat where couples or solo travellers can escape from the rat race and surround themselves with comfort. The period property is on the Geufron Farm in the south-western corner of the Snowdonia National Park, less than three miles from Tywyn, Cardigan Bay and its beautiful coast and only a 10-minute walk from the friendly Peniarth Arms pub in Bryncrug. Geufron Farm sits in 20 private acres of countryside with stunning views in all directions.
Tywyn is a beautiful sandy beach with Blue Flag status. Stroll along the promenade from where you may be lucky enough to spot some of the resident dolphins or, if you're feeling more energetic, walk a stretch along the magnificent Wales Coastal Path for views towards the Llyn Peninsula in the north and Fishguard and Aberystwyth in the south. Tywyn has excellent amenities that include a seafront cafe and a cinema that has been entertaining locals and visitors with the latest films since 1919. Aberdyfi is another popular choice for a day at the seaside and offers paddle boarding, crabbing off the pier, lovely shops for holiday gifts and a superb beach.
Go inland from the coast and the scenery is no less spectacular. Geufron Farm is in the Dysynni Valley, a pristine landscape with mountains, lakes and waterfalls. You can follow the route of the Tallyllyn Railway on foot if you're the sort of person who hates sitting down when walking is an option, passing through spectacular countryside and places like Rhydyronnen, Fach Coch and Hendy. Llyn Barfog (the Bearded Lake) is about six miles cross-country from The Granary, or about a 30-minute walk from the nearest car park which is in the Happy Valley. Other waymarked walks lead to beauty spots like the Dolgolch Falls or the waterfalls at Nant Gwernol. With this natural playground on the doorstep, you're spoiled for choice when it comes to hiking and mountain biking, and there are excellent opportunities to play golf, go fishing or trek on horseback.
The Granary is one of five superb self-catering properties at Geufron Farm. Depending on availability, these can be booked together to accommodate groups of friends or extended family. Please see the owner's website for details.
