Being so centrally located in the North York Moors National Park means having great access to favourite trails, sights and attractions.
2 Old Mill Cottages is in the pretty Yorkshire village of Rosedale Abbey. The holiday cottage sleeps up to seven people in three bedrooms, and is perfect for family and friends who want to holiday together. With two tearooms and two pubs within walking distance, you can easily pop out for breakfast, lunch or dinner if you don't feel like cooking. Yorkshire is famous for its breathtaking scenery, stunning walks and memorable cycling routes, especially Rosedale Chimney Bank and Blakey Ridge.
Rosedale Abbey is deceptively named as there was never an Abbey here but the remains of a 12th century Cistercian Priory can still be seen in the churchyard. In addition to a nine-hole golf course and a good choice of pubs and tea rooms, there is a welcoming village shop well-stocked with all the basics. Anything you can't get here can be found nearby in Pickering. Nicknamed "Gateway to the Moors" (probably by an enterprising Victorian travel agent), Pickering is a thriving market town on the southern edge of the national park. There are places to eat, drink, and shop and attractions include Pickering Castle, the Beck Isle Museum, and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Other attractions include Rievaulx Abbey in Helmsley, Flamingoland and Eden Camp, as well as the gorgeous Yorkshire coast and beaches like Whitby, Staithes, and Robin Hood's Bay, all around half an hour's drive from the cottage.
Many of the guests who stay at 2 Old Mill Cottages do so because of the fantastic walks in the area. You can walk from the cottage to the Rosedale Mineral Railway and through the Rosedale Valley. Cycling and mountain biking are popular all year round, with Dalby Forest attracting mountain bikers from around the country and the roads hosting stages of the Tour de Yorkshire.
Yorkshire is incredible. The scenery, the people, history, attractions and diversity of events make it suitable for everyone in any season. 2 Old Mill Cottages is ideally located for you to experience and enjoy the authentic heart of this amazing county.
