About Fox Cottage

Fox Cottage is a dog-friendly retreat sleeping up to four guests in the North Yorkshire market town of Helmsley with a good choice of amenities including eating establishments on the doorstep. Recently renovated to a high standard, this delightful Grade II listed cottage perfectly blends its 18th Century features (including beams and a magnificent open fire) with modern convenience to provide an inviting exceptionally comfortable retreat at any time of the year.

Retaining much of its original character, Fox Cottage is ideal if you are a couple looking for a romantic break, two couples wanting to catch up or if you are seeking a family holiday exploring the many attractions of the North York Moors - a superb position in one of the country's most loved and prettiest rural towns.

Nestling amongst wonderful rolling countryside on the outskirts of Ryedale, Helmsley boasts a number of attractions including its medieval castle, the splendid country house and estate of Duncombe Park and an Arts Centre where a number of annual events take place. Helmsley has much to offer walkers being at the beginning of the Cleveland Way with over one hundred miles of beautiful scenery to explore.

Within easy driving distance is North Yorkshire's picturesque Heritage Coastline, the stunning landscape of the moors ablaze with heather and the market towns of Thirsk, Pickering and Malton - all providing a good choice of shops to browse and places to enjoy lunch out.

The popular seaside town of Scarborough with its award winning beaches, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and even Staithes are also within easy reach, as is the City of York which is packed full of attractions, fantastic shops and restaurants. With plenty of interesting places to visit, you are spoilt for choice with great days out. Take a nostalgic trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway or visit Rydale Folk Museum and learn about local rural Yorkshire life. Eden Camp, Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard are among the many other many popular attractions within the area and under twenty miles away.

Alternatively, stay closer to home and enjoy Helmsley's tea rooms, restaurants, pubs, boutiques and superb walks - an ideal holiday destination to do as much or as little as your heart desires with everything on the doorstep!
