It is ideal for families or friends and can, depending on availability, be booked together with 21B Segontium Terrace - a separate self-contained apartment on the lower ground floor that can sleep up to two more guests. 21 Segontium Terrace is pet-friendly with fantastic views of Caernarfon Castle and a location within walking distance of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops.
Before Edward I arrived with his imposing Iron Ring of castles, the Romans claimed Caernarfon and made it their most important base in North Wales. They named the fort, the ruins of which sit above the town, Segontium. Several centuries later, Caernarfon Castle became a crucial tool in the English efforts to dominate the Welsh. Together with Harlech, Conwy and Beaumaris castles, it forms a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most popular attractions in North Wales.
Caernarfon sits on the Menai Strait where a revitalised waterfront boasts a theatre, cinema and arts centre. The town has an excellent choice of places to eat, drink and shop, several museums, and a big supermarket for all your self-catering provisions. You can go indoor wall-climbing and go-karting, play golf and stroll along the medieval town walls and admire the beautiful views.
With the beautiful Menai Strait and gorgeous beaches like Dinas Dinlle on one side, and the stunning Snowdonia National Park on the other, Caernarfon is the perfect holiday destination for people who love spending time in the great outdoors. There are riding stables just outside of town, boat trips to Anglesey and Puffin Island, mountain bike trails, coastal footpaths, hill walks, and mountains to climb, including Wales' highest peak, Snowdon. Llanberis and the terminus for the Snowdon Mountain Railway are about 10 miles from the house You can take the train both ways to Snowdon's summit, or save your legs on the way up and walk back down.
However you choose to spend your time, your stay at 21 Segontium Terrace will be a happy and comfortable one. The owners have taken care to create a space that is welcoming at any time of the year.
