About Eisteddfa

Eisteddfa is a welcoming holiday rental in a spectacular location with beautiful views towards Cardigan Bay and the mountains of Snowdonia. In between the Llyn Peninsula and Snowdonia National Park, the location could not be more ideal for families or friends who want to enjoy all of the features that make this part of Wales a year-round favourite. Five spacious bedrooms comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests, making the holiday home perfect for big families or friends.

You're never far from anything when you stay at Eisteddfa. The house is only two miles from Morannedd Beach at Criccieth, the charming Victorian seaside town with a medieval castle and a good variety of places to eat, drink and shop. Your holiday can be a mix of fun-filled days at the beach, challenging hill climbs, scenic walks, and energetic mountain bike rides. Get your thrills at Zip World and Bounce Below, or improve your skills at Surf Snowdonia. You can't miss the opportunity to scale Snowdon, whether on foot or via the train from Llanberis.

It's not all about action and adventure. The colourful Italianate village of Portmeirion is only 15-minutes from Eisteddfa, or you can set up your chair and your rod at the Eisteddfa Fishery, which is virtually on the doorstep. Other local attractions include the Dwyfor Rabbit Farm and Animal Park at Llanystumdwy and activities at Glasfryn Parc and Talhenbont Hall. For history lovers, WWI British Prime Minister, Lloyd George, is buried in Llanystumdwy, where there is a museum dedicated to his life. Eisteddfa is the former home of one of his daughters. Caernarfon Castle is half an hour's drive north of the cottage. It's a magnificent display of power and wealth that inspires awe more than seven centuries after its construction.

Eisteddfa is a semi-detached house and can be booked together with Ty Mawr next door to provide generous accommodation for up to 18 guests. A small cottage close by sleeping a further 2 guests in a ground floor bedroom can also be booked to take the accommodation up to 20. Elsewhere on the farm is a modern cottage sleeping 4. When Eisteddfa and Ty Mawr are booked together, there is plenty of space and dining capacity for everyone to socialise and eat together.

Location (Snowdonia)

Accommodation Comprises:

Eisteddfa is an appealing Victorian property surrounded by private gardens. Although it has been extended and modernised over the decades, it retains an elegant charm, with high ceilings and furniture carefully chosen to compliment the house's age and pedigree.

Downstairs:

  • Enter into the light-filled hallway with golden wood parquet flooring and doors leading into various reception rooms.
  • One of the ways the house has been updated is by opening up the kitchen and dining room to connect them to suit modern living. You will happily spend most of your time in the sunny kitchen/diner, which is well-equipped for self-catering and feels like the welcoming heart of the home. The contemporary kitchen includes a modern range oven, cupboards stocked with utensils and equipment, and an island work surface/breakfast bar. An arch leads into the beautiful dining room, which opens into the sunroom.
  • Sunroom with casual seating and huge windows making the most of incredible views and doors that open into the garden. It's a good spot to relax after dinner or to watch TV.
  • Sitting room with comfortable sofas, a flame effect fire, and a Smart TV.
  • Reading room with a desk. The house has WiFi throughout (speeds vary).
  • Utility room with a washer and dryer, and a cloakroom with a WC and a handbasin.

Upstairs:

  • All five bedrooms are on the first floor. They are spacious and well proportioned with stunning views over the gardens and valley towards the mountains.
  • Two double bedrooms, each with a TV, clothes storage, and an ensuite with a shower, WC and a handbasin. Beds are made up for guests arrival, and towels are provided.
  • Third double bedroom, beautifully furnished as before.
  • Two twin rooms with two full-sized single beds.
  • Family bathroom with a shower over the bath, WC and a handbasin.

Outside: The house has a terrace with outdoor furniture and a barbecue with views over the fishing lakes. The enclosed garden is mainly lawn with mature trees and flowering plants. There is a private driveway with off-street parking for eight cars.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and towels are all included. The house has central heating to keep it warm all year round. Guests to provide beach and dog towels if they are required. Up to three well-behaved dogs are welcome through prior arrangement. Smoking is not permitted.
