Little Ponds achieves the covetable status of being peaceful and relaxing without feeling isolated or difficult to reach. The pretty house, which sleeps up to six people in three bedrooms and is perfect for family holidays, is near the quiet village of Heathfield and close to Uckfield. Everything you could need for a fun self-catering holiday is close, including wonderful walks and bike rides and an excellent variety of shops, cafes and other amenities.
Heathfield is in an area surrounded by gorgeous countryside with lanes, footpaths, bridleways and cycling routes to help you explore far and wide. The Cuckoo Trail passes close to the cottage on its way between Heathfield and Shinewater Park near Eastbourne, taking in Horam, Hailsham and Polegate. Having a smooth surface and being mostly traffic-free makes it perfect for riders of all abilities. There is golf at Horam Park and Wellshurst Golf Club, just three and four miles from the cottage respectively, while Dewlands Manor, Piltdown, and Boars Head courses are all within a 20-minute drive.
The market town of Heathfield is only a few miles away, with plenty of pleasant distractions that include panoramic views towards the South Downs, Tunbridge Wells, and the Weald. There has been a regular market held here since 1316. Tuesday is the day for antiques and collectables while you should visit on Saturday for fresh produce and general goods. Being almost equidistant from both Royal Tunbridge Wells and Eastbourne means that visitors have a huge choice of activities and attractions during their stay at Little Ponds. Royal Tunbridge Wells was a favourite holiday spot of both Queen Anne and Victoria. Its appeal remains as strong as ever with a wealth of places to eat, drink and shop. Closer to home, local attractions include Bateman's, the 17th Century home of Rudyard Kipling, the Bluebell Steam Railway at Sheffield Park, Drusilla's Zoo, Pevensey Castle, and the Observatory Science Centre at Herstmonceux. Glyndebourne, Brighton and Lewes are all within an easy drive. Uckfield has a direct train to London Bridge Station, putting you just over an hour away from the sights and delights of the capital.
Little Ponds is perfect for a visit with your family or extended family at any time of the year. It is child and pet-friendly, with one well-behaved dog being welcome for no additional cost.
