A lovely converted pigsty that sits in an exceptionally picturesque position on a Kentish sheep farm comprising of some one hundred and sixty acres, located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the old sea cliffs of the 'Isle of Oxney'. With fantastic extensive views, Great Prawls Farm has an air of peace and tranquillity and provides the perfect retreat for a relaxing holiday.
The owners two detached cottages have self-guided walks, exclusive to their guests, around the farm to enjoy the wildlife or just stretch legs and relax, far from the madding crowd. The farm is conveniently located just ten minutes drive from the medieval hilltop town of Rye with it's quaint little cobbled streets, and in the other direction, historic Tenterden, known as the 'Jewel of the Weald'. Both towns have antique shops, museums, art galleries and a choice of restaurants and country pubs.
For children the farm is close to the sandy beaches of Camber and indoor leisure pools and there are plenty of interesting places to visit within the vicinity including: RSPB bird sanctuaries; smugglers caves, Biddenden Vineyard who offer guided tours and rare breed centres. There is also golf, fishing and riding available locally or alternatively take a leisurely steam train ride through Tenterden or on the miniature coastal railway at Hythe.
Located on the border of Kent and Sussex, there are numerous National Trust properties and gardens to visit. The nearest, 'Smallhythe Place' of Ellen Terry fame, is just a five minute drive whilst the much admired Sissinghurst Gardens, Great Dixter gardens and moated Bodiam Castle are all within twenty minutes. A little further afield (up to forty minutes) are Scotney Castle, Batemans, Chartwell, Leeds Castle, Dover castle, Battle Abbey and the City of Canterbury with its beautiful cathedral.
From Ashford station you can visit London (just over an hour or thirty eight minutes on the high speed train) which offers a vast array of things to see and do or bring your passport to take the Channel Tunnel to Paris or the day ferry to Calais.
