Windsor Lodge is a holiday home with something for everyone. The two-bedroom cottage sleeps five people and is perfect for families and couples alike. It is on a quiet, no-through-road in St Ives in Dorset, within walking distance of shops, cafes, and the St Leonard's Hotel pub, but it is the surrounding area that makes it such a great choice for a holiday. The village is next to the Moors Valley Country Park and Forest, the Green Flag Avon Heath Country Park and only a few miles from the New Forest National Park. Not only that, but great road links mean you can drive to seven miles of Blue Flag sandy beaches within 15-20 minutes - perfect for people who enjoy spending time outdoors walking, cycling, swimming and exploring.
One of the first places you'll want to go is Ringwood, two miles away and easy to walk or cycle to along the Castleman Trailway. Not only does the riverside market town have a great choice of cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops if you need to pick up provisions for your self-catering stay, but the Ringwood Brewery is well-known for its superb beers and the fun and informative brewery tours that are suitable for children over eight years old. Once you've filled the fridge, grab your spirit of adventure and drive, walk or cycle the mile from the cottage to Go Ape Moors Valley for a treetop adventure, Segway challenge, and net climbing course. Moors Valley Country Park also has a fantastic adventure playground and 1,000 acres of forest and parkland to explore on foot or bicycle as well as bike hire, golf, children's steam railway and a lake which is a lovely place for a picnic. You can book fishing tuition or a place on a guided walk or bike ride.
The New Forest National Park is virtually on your doorstep, and you'll have a fantastic time enjoying this protected landscape. Walk underneath redwood trees so tall you can barely see the top, or see how far your arms fit around the trunk of trees centuries older than you. New Forest attractions include the National Motor Museum and Beaulieu House, Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World, the Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway, and over 100 miles of traffic-free cycling routes suitable for all abilities.
Spend happy days exploring places like Salisbury and Wimborne or at the seaside, basking in the sun at south-coast beaches like Bournemouth and Poole. Alternatively, turn the cottage's outdoor hot tub on and relax in the enormous private garden with a cold drink and a good book.
Windsor Lodge is available for bookings all year round. It's great for families but also works well for couples who like having more space.
