Maple Cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms, making it an ideal self-catering holiday rental for couples or families who want direct access to some of the best walks and bike rides in West Dorset. Maple is one of five recently refurbished properties at Chideock Grange Holiday Cottages, tucked away at the end of a quiet country lane with no passing traffic. It's in a conservation area within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - it doesn't get much more idyllic than that! The cottages at Chideock Grange share landscaped gardens with direct access to the River Winniford.
The network of footpaths and cycling routes around Maple Cottage means you can easily park your car and forget about it for the duration of your holiday. The cottage is on Hell Lane, which peters out from a country lane into a public footpath and an ancient holloway leading to Symondsbury, where you can climb to the top of Colmer's Hill. Walking or cycling along a route carved into the earth through centuries of use is a tangible link to the past and the sort of experience that will make your holiday in Maple Cottage so special. Other footpaths lead to the beach at Seatown, Eype, West Bay and Golden Cap. Fishing and golf are two more fantastic ways to enjoy being outdoors and active, or you can spend lazy days swimming, surfing and sunbathing on beautiful beaches.
Day trips can include exploring the Jurassic Coast, fossicking for fossils at Lyme Regis and Charmouth and discovering why this spectacular and unique landscape is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy the traditional entertainments of a seaside resort in Weymouth, walk out to the Portland Bill lighthouse, or work up an appetite for lunch browsing the boutiques in Dorchester. There are gardens and country houses, specialist museums, parks and sightseeing boat tours. However you love spending time together as a couple or a family, you'll find ample opportunity for fun and relaxation here.
