Minnie's Cottage is an idyllic holiday cottage in Dorset. It dates from the 1700s and sits back from a quiet residential lane with no passing traffic. With its thatched roof and pretty garden, it wouldn't be out of place in an Enid Blyton story. The cottage is in the charming village of Burton Bradstock, within walking distance of the Three Horseshoes pub and just a 10-minute stroll from Chesil Beach. The opportunities for exploration and adventure - or rest and relaxation, if that's what you would prefer, are endless. With space for up to four people to sleep in two comfortable bedrooms, Minnie's Cottage is especially suited to couples and families.
In addition to two welcoming pubs that serve food if you want a night off from cooking, Burton Bradstock has a small supermarket and a well-stocked village shop with a post office. Nearby, the market town of Bridport has more amenities, including a regular Saturday market and a leisure centre with a swimming pool. Hire a canoe, take a trip on a Lyme Regis RIB charter, or hire a bike and explore the lanes and cycleways around the area.
There's a footpath leading from the cottage through fields to the Chesil Beach, so all you have to do is grab your beach towel and lilo and you're set for the day. Chesil Beach stretches for 18 magnificent miles and is protected as part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. At one end is West Bay, which is only four miles and a picturesque walk from Minnie's Cottage. Fans of the TV series "Broadchurch" may recognise West Bay from the show. The views are spectacular in any season and any weather. Be sure to take comfortable walking shoes with you to be able to appreciate it first hand. At the other end of the beach is the Isle of Portland and the red-and-white-striped Portland Bill lighthouse. In between these points is an incredible coastline popular for fishing and fossil hunting.
Day trips can include traditional seaside activities in Weymouth, admiring the graceful arch of Durdle Door, taking a guided fossil hunt with an expert, or visiting attractions like Otterton Mill, Tout Quarry, and the Seaton Tramway.
