Befferlands Cottage is a spacious converted two-storey barn, ideal for two couples, families with up to two children, or guests travelling with dogs. The layout has been thoughtfully designed, with both bedrooms and their bathrooms positioned at opposite ends of the cottage to ensure privacy for all.
The interior features a generous sitting room with a striking picture window that floods the space with natural light, leading through to a large, fully equipped kitchen and dining area—perfect for relaxed meals and socialising. The stylish double bedroom benefits from an en-suite bathroom and ample wardrobe space, while the twin room has its own separate bathroom, also well appointed.
Set in the heart of the West Dorset countryside, the cottage is just minutes from the stunning Jurassic Coast. Nestled within the rolling hills of Marshwood Vale—an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty—it enjoys far-reaching views across open farmland, with a wealth of walks along quiet lanes, woodland and riverside paths right from the doorstep, extending into both West Dorset and East Devon. You can even walk to the beach from the cottage.
Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the property is conveniently located near the seaside village of Charmouth, as well as the popular towns of Lyme Regis, Bridport and Axminster. In the nearby village of Whitchurch Canonicorum, St Candida and Holy Cross Church is one of only a handful of churches in England to retain the original medieval shrine and relics of its patron saint.
Outside, the cottage offers private parking and a small enclosed garden—perfect for relaxing or enjoying a barbecue. Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (£20 per dog, maximum of two).

The nearby village of Charmouth is a charming seaside destination, renowned worldwide for its fossil hunting, with guided fossil walks available along the beach. The village offers excellent amenities including a chemist, small supermarket, bakery, general store, hairdresser, and a selection of restaurants, along with two welcoming pubs. At the seafront, you’ll also find a specialist fossil shop and the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre.
Just a short drive away, the vibrant seaside town of Lyme Regis boasts a sandy beach, historic harbour, and a wide range of independent shops and restaurants. Nearby, River Cottage HQ offers renowned cookery courses, while the River Cottage Kitchen is perfect for relaxed breakfasts and lunches.
The market town of Bridport and the harbour at West Bay are around 7 miles away, where you can enjoy mackerel and crab fishing, as well as RIB and speedboat trips along the coast to Lyme Regis.
For local produce, excellent farm shops include Felicity's Farm Shop, Washingpool Farm Shop and Miller's Farm Shop.
Further afield, there is a wealth of attractions to explore, including Mapperton House, Forde Abbey, the historic city of Exeter, and iconic coastal landmarks such as Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. Family-friendly attractions include The Tank Museum, Tunnel Target Sports Centre, Treetops Adventure and Escot Park. The county town of Dorchester is also within easy reach.
