Mullen is a spacious and light-filled three-bedroom holiday cottage at Pitt Farm in South Devon, sleeping up to seven guests plus an infant. The layout is ideal for families, with a choice of two double bedrooms—one with en suite—and a bright triple bedroom upstairs, along with a family bathroom. Downstairs, there’s a well-equipped modern kitchen, a generous dining room, a comfortable lounge and a convenient WC. Mullen has one of the best outdoor spaces at Pitt Farm: an 80 square metre private walled terrace accessed directly from the kitchen and hallway, with built-in barbecue, dining furniture and far-reaching countryside views. The secure, gated garden areas make this a great choice for families with younger children or those who value privacy and space.
As with all cottages at Pitt Farm, guests staying at Mullen enjoy full access to a fantastic set of shared facilities across the ten-acre site. There’s a warm indoor swimming pool, full-size tennis court, open-sided games barn, and a brand-new adventure playground with zip wire, swings, monkey bars and a giant trampoline. A daily highlight for children is the morning animal feeding round—chickens, pigs and alpacas are all waiting for their breakfast. Babies and toddlers are especially well catered for, with stair gates, cots, highchairs, baby-friendly pool temperature, woodland play areas and a full kit of essentials available on request. Pitt Farm is popular with families travelling in groups—many choose to book multiple cottages to enjoy time together while maintaining separate space.
The South Hams coastline is just a short drive away, with excellent beaches including Bantham, Bigbury-on-Sea, South Milton Sands and Hope Cove all within 15 to 25 minutes. Families love the space, sand and rockpools, and there are surf schools and paddleboard hire available locally. Slapton Sands and Blackpool Sands offer quieter spots, great for swimming and beach cafés. Kingsbridge, the closest town (just over five miles), has a mix of independent shops, a good supermarket and a farmers' market every other Saturday. Further afield, you can visit Salcombe by ferry, spend a day exploring Dartmouth, or head inland to Totnes for laid-back shops and cafés.
South Devon’s attractions are varied and easy to reach. Dartmoor is less than an hour away for walks and wild views, while family favourites like Paignton Zoo, Woodlands Family Theme Park, the South Devon Railway and Babbacombe Model Village offer plenty of all-weather entertainment. Pitt Farm makes a brilliant base, not just for what’s nearby but for everything on site. Whether you’re swimming, playing, barbecuing or picking up a local treat from the honesty shop, there’s always something to enjoy. Mullen is a great choice for a family or mixed-age group looking for a self-catering holiday cottage near Kingsbridge and Salcombe, with space to relax and shared access to all the fun of Pitt Farm.
