Martingale is a large, characterful holiday cottage sleeping up to 12 guests across three spacious floors, set in the heart of the South Hams at award-winning Pitt Farm. Once a humble hay barn, it’s now one of the most impressive properties on site, offering flexible living for extended families or groups of friends. With secure gardens, a private BBQ terrace, and access to a wide range of on-site facilities – all just a short drive from the beaches and attractions of South Devon – it’s a brilliant base for a group getaway.
The layout of Martingale makes it easy to spread out and come together, with sleeping areas on both the top and ground floors, and a large communal middle floor for eating, relaxing and spending time together. The ground floor has a family en-suite bedroom with a king and single bed, a twin bedroom, a family bathroom, and space for travel cots. Upstairs, you’ll find another king-and-single family room, a large double bedroom with en-suite, a twin room, and a second family bathroom. This flexible layout suits a mix of families and generations, with plenty of privacy and shared space in equal measure.
The central living floor includes a large lounge with comfy sofas, a sociable dining room with seating for everyone, and a well equipped kitchen with everything you need to feed a crowd. There’s also a utility room with washer, dryer and extra fridge space, and direct access to the outdoors from this level too.
Outside, Martingale has a private BBQ terrace with views across the valley and plenty of seating to enjoy long summer evenings. A separate, sloped garden provides a peaceful spot to unwind, and there’s private parking for three cars. The cottage is also dog-friendly (by prior arrangement), so four-legged family members don’t have to miss out. Guests at Martingale have full access to all of Pitt Farm’s excellent shared amenities. Children will love the indoor heated pool, playground, woodland zip wire and games barn, while adults can enjoy the boules court, tennis court and peaceful setting. The friendly owners live on site and are happy to help with anything you need during your stay.
The South Hams offers something for everyone – whether you're heading to Bantham or Bigbury for a beach day, exploring Kingsbridge and Salcombe, or entertaining little ones at Pennywell Farm or Woodlands. With so much space and so many ways to have fun, Martingale is a brilliant choice for large family holidays in Devon.

Outside: As well as use of the fantastic amenities at Pitt Farm (heated indoor pool, games room, boules court, tennis, zip wire, outdoor play area, and woodland walks), guests at Martingale have a beautiful private BBQ terrace with seating and far-reaching rural views. There's parking for 3 cars with more available by arrangement.
Additional Information: Martingale is very family friendly with a highchair, cot and stairgates available on request. Well-behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement. Short breaks and a flexible changeover day are possible outside of peak season, depending on availability. Smoking is not allowed.
