Sitting in an elevated position in a sheltered woody spot on the outskirts of Dartmoor National Park is this delightful romantic yurt - a perfect retreat for two. Situated on a raised decked balcony, with views over Okehampton town, guests can use the cedar wooden hot tub when ever they like and have sole use of the little 'annex' where you will find full kitchen facilities and a shower room.
Moonbeam provides the romantic rustic charm associated with camping with the added comforts of self-catering - glamping doesn't get much better! Designed with a great deal of care and attention by a local craft master, beautiful natural materials such as locally sourced ash and oak have been used and enhanced by lovely features including a hand made oak door, sky light for star gazing, thick cotton canvas for keeping all weathers out and a carpeted wooden floor topped with rugs and reindeer skins.
An immense amount of passion has gone into making Moonbeam exceptionally comfy and in keeping with the landscape in which it sits, whilst embracing Dartmoor's unique climate.
Surrounding the peace and tranquility of the garden, are a vast choice of great days out and activities to enjoy. Dartmoor's most northern tip is only a five minute walk away and the old tram line that runs past the garden is also very popular taking walkers from Okehampton through meadows, woods and alongside the river up to the moor.
Just three minutes walk away is Adventure Okehampton offering a great choice of outdoor adventures including horse riding, adventures for mountain bikers, gorge walking, caving and water based activities including kayaking and river rafting. Next door to Moonbeam is an old railway station where you can enjoy a nostalgic moment with steam trains. Or hire a bike (Devon Cycle Hire, just outside Okehampton has a great range of bikes including tandems for those feeling adventurous!) and explore the Granite Way which provides a leisurely bike ride to Tavistock alongside the old railway line (bikes can be hired from Devon Cycle Hire). You can take a trip on a steam train from the station which also has a cafe serving fantastic home made meals from the fullest of English breakfasts to a lovely Devonshire afternoon tea. So split your holiday between lazy long days in the hot tub and action packed activities at the youth hostel; and when you need a little refreshment, head to the station and indulge in a cream tea or enjoy a chilled bottle of wine back at Moonbeam watching the sun go down.
Okehampton town with its farmer’s market has much to offer and will cater for all your needs with three supermarkets (including Waitrose), cinema and a host of independent shops. There are also a great choice of places to enjoy a meal out including pubs and cafes. The town sits in the very heart of Devon, providing easy access (within an hour's drive) to both the north and south coastlines which each have their own unique character and charm. You can be in the city of Exeter in thirty minutes by car, Cornwall in just twenty and there are many National Trust properties to visit along with world famous attractions including The Eden Project (just an hour away by car) where you can take in the beautiful scenery of Bodmin Moor on route. With so many great days out and places to visit, you will want to return to Moonbeam many times!

Accommodation and facilities:
Moonbeam provides spacious, light and airy accommodation that is warm, cosy and romantic. At sixteen feet in diameter this relaxing quirky hideaway has a hand crafted wooden bed with a thick duvet (duck down) dressed with Egyptian linen to snuggle under of a night.
Guests staying at Moonbeam will not be expected to rough it as you have a full size shower for pampering and 'cook house' with dining area located on a separate wooden platform. Fully equipped, all essentials are provided for guests who want the full cooking experience whilst away including a fridge, microwave oven/grill, hot plate cooker, dining table and of course, the kitchen sink! A great place for preparing supper, bathroom pampering and indoor dining with lots of room to relax in comfort.
One of Moonbeam's most popular features is the hot tub that sits under the shade of an ancient oak tree on the lower balcony, in its own private place. Traditional in design, this cedar hot tub was made and imported specifically because of its quality from Canada. Keeping the water at a constant thirty eight to nine degrees, you can enjoy a bubble at any time during the day or night. What better place for star gazing or wildlife spotting - if you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of deer which have at times been seen grazing at the bottom of the garden, along with many other furry and feathered visitors that visit including foxes, wrens, woodpeckers and the every friendly robins. It is also normal at dusk and nightfall to hear owls hooting in the trees.
