Living
Ankorya isn't the sort of place you stumble across by accident. Reached by a four-to eight-minute walk along the South West Coast Path, this beautifully restored cliff chalet sits above Whitsand Bay with uninterrupted views across the sea and barely another building in sight. It's peaceful, private and completely off-grid, though not in the way many people imagine. Solar panels quietly power everything from the Starlink WiFi to the kitchen appliances, giving you all the comforts of a modern holiday cottage while leaving a lighter footprint. Inside, it feels relaxed and effortless, with natural textures, mid-century-inspired furniture, and large windows that constantly draw your attention back to the coastline. The wood burner makes cooler evenings wonderfully cosy, while breakfast has a habit of drifting outdoors onto the lawn as yachts pass quietly across the bay below. Dogs are welcome too, making it just as appealing for couples travelling with four-legged company.
Although Ankorya feels wonderfully hidden away, you're far from isolated. The Rame Peninsula is often called Cornwall's Forgotten Corner, not because there's nothing here, but because it has managed to escape the crowds found elsewhere in the county. Pretty villages such as Kingsand, Cawsand and Millbrook are all within easy driving distance, offering welcoming pubs, cafés, restaurants and independent shops. It's easy to spend the morning exploring the coastline before settling into a harbourside pub for lunch or picking up fresh local produce to cook back at the chalet. The walk back to Ankorya is part of the experience, rewarding you with a level of peace that's increasingly difficult to find.
There's plenty to discover beyond the peninsula, too. Follow the coast towards Rame Head, spend idle afternoons on the sandy beaches below the chalet, or head across the River Tamar to explore Plymouth's historic waterfront, galleries and restaurants. The South West Coast Path runs just beyond the chalet, making it easy to head off on foot towards Rame Head or explore the quieter coves and beaches along this stretch of coastline. Back at Ankorya, the pace slows again. As daylight fades, the cliffs become quieter, the stars appear without competing streetlights, and the sound of the waves takes over. It's a place that encourages you to switch off without having to give anything up. Just remember to pack a pair of comfortable walking shoes.

Accommodation Comprises
Ankorya has been thoughtfully restored to make the most of its remarkable setting. The chalet has occupied its spectacular cliff-top position since the 1930s, and parts of the interior include reclaimed timber recovered from the Kodima shipwreck, adding another chapter to its fascinating history.
Accommodation
Outside
Stepping outside is another joy of staying at Ankyora. The lawn stretches towards the cliff edge, where uninterrupted views sweep across Whitsand Bay and along the Cornish coastline. Sun loungers invite long afternoons with nothing more demanding than deciding whether to read another chapter or simply watch the boats passing below.
Please note: Access is via a four- to eight-minute walk from the nearest parking area along the South West Coast Path, adding a sense of adventure to every stay. The route is steep in places and suitable footwear is recommended,
